The Dish: Wisconsin was the site of the first Famous Dave's, and in less than ten years the outfit has spread to 21 states. Founder Dave Anderson is passionate about ribs -- he's a regular at Twin Cities barbecue competitions. He developed his recipes by spending years going from roadside rib shacks to fancy-pants restaurants looking for the perfect ribs. Famous Dave's menu also includes barbecued pork and chicken with sauces ranging from the mild Texas Pit to the spicy Devil's Spit. Portions are huge and messy. See that giant roll of paper towels on your table? You're gonna need it.
The Atmosphere: Dave designed his restaurants around the roadside rib-shack theme. Each outpost is filled with roadside memorabilia such as road signs and gas pumps, all under a canopy of Christmas lights. crazyleggzmcgee - 05/10/2008Food is great! service is great! they always seem to go out of their way to make your visit great. I've eatten at the Waukesha store countless times. I love the BBQ Stuffed Potato! the chopped pork is to die for, and the ribs are perfect! It's a very kid friendly restaurant and they always seem to make the visit special for the kids. I highly reccommed a visit!

myataman - 11/11/2004We ran into Daves in Nashville. It was our forst experience and were surprised it is Wis. based. Great food, fun atmosphere and excellent service. We are trying the Wis. Daves this weekend cause we love the Nashville one so much. Give it a try if you're up for outstanding ribs!!!

mmsd69 - 07/28/2003A definite must visit BBQ joint! They finally opened a Dave's near Milwaukee. Now I don't have to go to IL or the Dells. Always busy but worth the wait. The ribs, chicken and beef brisket are great. Will be going there many more times.
