Don't feel like stepping onto an airplane? Be virtually transported to Europe without leaving the city limits at Trocadero. A former corner tap, Trocadero's extensively remodeled interior is more like five places at once.

In the morning, the front bar's barista can whip up any number of classic espresso drinks, essential to any continental breakfast. Croissants, baguettes, and made-to-order Belgian waffles and crepes are fresh and delicious.

The deli offers several thoughtfully chosen cheeses, pates and meats, which are also used in the cafe's sandwich selections. A Croques Monsieur (smoked ham, Gruyere, tomato and garlic aioli) goes nicely with the house wine, or Gazol, which is served in carafes at every table. The Heineken tower flows at any hour of the day, perfect for people with European schedules. The tabac sells international and domestic magazines and press, as well as upscale tobacco products. Every winter, the heated patio becomes a popular destination for the weather-weary.

  • Capping off a great day

We hit Trocadero after a day of running around Milwaukee and it was the perfect end to a great day. Lots of nooks and crannies to occupy and relax in. Comfortable atmosphere. Great food. The Manchego cheese platter was delicious - a great recommendation from Trocadero staff. The Mr. Crock sandwich was hearty and tasty. The ravioli was spectacular. And don't miss the Nono crepe. Decadent! Would go back in a heartbeat.

This is hands-down my favorite place in Milwaukee.
Best Bloody Mary's I've ever had, garnished w/ a green bean, olives, pickle & asparagus spear, and pepper.
This place is best on Sunday mornings, but you will pay for it in the form of a long line that leads all the way outside.
    Parking sucks too.
    Very Highly Recommend.

  • A slice of Paris in the midwes

Recently spent 10 days in France . Trocadero's is the best!! It's like sitting outside the cafe's in Paris and the food was wonderful. We visited twice last weekend. Once for wine & cheeseplate, and again for Sunday brunch. Food, service, atmosphere...everything was wonderful. We'll be back!!!

Could be excellent if late at night they did not turn up the music with the sole intent of blowing our ears off our skulls

Anyone looking for good drinks, an upscale yet casually friendly environment, and wonderfully diverse food need look no further. Immensely popular with those who know, especially those who enjoy a european feel. Smoking allowed in all outdoor areas- with wonderful ventilation (its called the sky) and the inside dining room is smoke free. Any way you want to eat- delicious appetizers, light salads and sandwiches, or fully decadent meals: you can do it here in a beautiful setting with great service. Enjoy.

The first thing I notice was everyone smoking and absolutely no ventilation. It was too bad since my girlfriend I moved down to the 3rd ward we have been looking for breakfast places. Who wants to fill your lungs with smoke first thing in the morning before breakfast - yuck

  • Fantastique!

    Review rating : 4out of 5   ccrbee - 06/07/2004

Excellent Bloody Mary's, extensive and pleaurable wine list, many good beers. A feast for the senses...especially your taste buds. Slightly pricey, but really, for the quality and wonderful preperation of the food, it's well worth it, whether it be brunch, lunch, dinner, or late evening. An absolute must have is the Nono Crepe...in fact, if that's all you'll have, it will be sufficient and keep you coming back for more. (If you don't know it, one word sums it up...Chocolate.) The selection of cheeses are well rounded, and the pate is good. Their salads are delectible, and their jambion crepe is addictive.

The only "problem" with the service is that sometimes they don't want you to leave, so it can take a while to get the bill. But everyone there is nice and outgoing.

Atmosphere promotes a fun relaxing time spent with friends over a meal that one would imagine being worthy of a picnic in Arles France. Great atmosphere and environment. However, the other reviewer is right, the music does get intrusive later at night, making a relaxing conversation over wine a bit difficult. As for the smoking, it's no longer allowed, except for maybe at the bar.

But the patio in summer is the best place for cozy conversations with friends or fun flirtations with a date.

Love this place! The interior is cool. The food is good, and you can't beat having a glass of wine on the patio during the summer. Their breakfasts are also decadently good!
