Steve Sazama created a Milwaukee institution in 1976. When ''Saz'' opened Saz's State House he created a barbecue empire. Saz's food can be found at nearly every major Milwaukee festival and a number of the barbecue products are on grocery store shelves. The State House serves racks of barbecued ribs, barbecued chicken, steaks and a wide range of sandwiches (barbecued and otherwise), as well as plenty of beer to wash it down. The comfortable bar area in the entryway isn't huge and can get crowded with people waiting for tables on weekends, but a barstool in Saz's is one of the best on State Street. Watch the masses file in and out while sipping from one of the many barley selections on hand. Saz's has become an absolute ritual before Brewers' games, and they run buses to downtown events like Bucks' games. There are tons of tables for eating, and all seem to be close enough to a television so you can keep track of whatever local team is playing. Saz's barbecue selections are good, but don't even bother eating there if you're not going to have some of the legendary sour cream and chive fries smothered in ranch dressing. -- SM

best " falling off the bone" ribs in Milwaukee! His "festival" food is most popular, and doesn't taste like festival food. He has great parking, and you can catch a ride to all Brewers, and Bucks games for free.
