Bay View's aptly-named Home Bar, like other unique local taverns like At Random and the Train Bar, offers patrons a nice combination of local funkiness and modern ambience. Unlike other somewhat upscale bars in Bay View (a relative concept anyway), the Home Bar sits in the middle of Bay View's strangely magnetic Kinnickinnic Avenue, its commercial heart. Sit in air conditioned comfort on a sweltering summer afternoon in the smooth black and chrome interior. Your barmates are more likely to be painters, carpenters or musicians than accountants or lawyers. And not only is the beer selection vast and well displayed in lighted coolers, Home's wine list is nothing to sneer at. For a smallish neighborhood-style place, Home lists 15 wines from Italy, France, Germany and the US. Bar food like hot wings, pizzas and various deep-fried goodies go well with the Woodchuck cider on tap. There's Jaegermeister and margaritas on tap, too, if that's your thing. And something behind the bar is guaranteed to be a part of Home Bar's impressive roster of nightly specials.

One of my favorites. Clientelle truly spans the age spectrum. It's easy to see why. They offer a little bit of something for everyone. And everyone enjoys a warm greeting at the door.

Pretty nice place more upscale than I would have imagined since it's on KK. It's pretty much dead most nights but it's still a fun place if you bring the right people with you. Gotta love the people who work their too.
