Brady Street is hot hot hot these days, and longtime Chinese favorite Emperor of China knows it. Situated between a dingy corner bar and an upscale Middle Eastern restaurant, the Emperor does a brisk takeout business for the Lower East Side's hungry masses, but a sit-down dining experience is well worth the parking dilemmas.

Starters include sweet potato tempura and quail Shanghai, sauteed with fragrant spices. Don't skip the soups, especially the chicken sizzling rice soup, which rivals any Mexican restaurants' fajita presentation with its tempting sound and smell. The usually empty bar is well stocked and is a perfect oasis from the hip Brady street contingent. Even standard dishes like Moo Shu Pork and Buddha's Delight are carefully prepared. The Emperor's motto is, "We always give a little extra," and you'll see it's no lie with large servings and servers eager to please. -- Jessica Zierten

    This resturant is by far the most delicious chinese cuisine i have ever had here in wiscosin. The pork fried won ton and dumplings are so good!! I have been eating there with my family for about 10 years and it just keeps getting better and better! Jinn, the owner, always has a smile on and usually talks with us for a while. It is a very pleasant dining experience and great food

    My family/friends and I have been going to the Emperor for over 13 years. The food was excellent then and it has remained the same. That is quite a feat, but they rise to the occasion time and time again. One of our favorites is egg drop soup (best in the state). Huge portions!

    My husband and I have been going to the Emperor for at least 5 years now. Always great food, and good service. Jinn, the owner is always pleasant and greets you with a smile, though sometimes he is extremely busy, especially on weekend nights. Best Chinese in town..great Crab Rangoon, great menu choices and always has interesting specials on the blackboard. We think this is the best Chinese we have found outside Washington D.C.'s Chinatown.

    This is not a good place for chinese food, I would rather eat at Taco Bell then to waste my time or money at this place again.
