The creation of the locally famous Kopp family, this trendy bar and restaurant has been a popular gathering spot with Milwaukee urbanites for years. Set across from picturesque Cathedral Square Park in a handsome Victorian brownstone, Elsa's features interior decore that's much more modern than its exterior. Unique design accents, such as the lowering 10-foot obelisks and hanging clusters of iridescent blue rocks, create a magical and serene atmosphere. Elsa's attracts an eclectic mix of ethnicities and ages; its well-dressed patrons flock to the Milwaukee institution for its unique combination of top-shelf spirits and casual gourmet dining. After all, there are not many other places that pair giant martinis in one hand with spicy Buffalo wings in the other. Popular choices on Elsa's menu include their half-pound sirloin burgers, pork chop sandwiches, Nachos Extraordinaire and butter rum Golden Gate cake.

DaKine747 - 05/16/2008Outstanding food and drinks, imaginative decor, impeccable service, and social relevance for nearly three decades. I was a bartender here in the early 80's before moving out of state for a several years. Back in Milwaukee now, and thrilled this establishment has thrived. Karl Kopp was (and IS) one of the most admired and respected proprietors in the business. Nicely done!

Slamtg - 05/16/2008The bar has the most professional bartending staff imaginable, with many of them having 20+ years of service behind the same bar. The decor changes seasonally, with Karl Kopp travelling the US to find interesting art installations to help set the mood. The best place for an after theater or sporting event dinner (because they serve till 1 AM), and a killer blue cheese cheeseburger. On the light side try their grilled veggie plate with a spicy dipping sauce. Outstanding!

Every time when you get together with a couple of your friends, you try to deside where to go. Well...there is a perfect place that has the best cosmo's and very nice food. The only thing is it's too popular to be that small.

fjohnheenan - 02/14/2004The best networking bar in the city. And the best group of bartenders in the country. If you are traveling and staying downtown Milwaukee. Stop in have a drink ( prefer the martini's) and ask this group what is going on and where to eat. You will never be dissapointed!!
