When Milwaukee residents think of Chinese restaurants, Hales Corners is probably the last place they would think of going. Le Bistro Shanghai, located in the former home of Wang Sang Express, tries to bring Chinese dining to the western edge of Milwaukee County. From the outside, Le Bistro Shanghai comes across like any of the chain restaurants or diners lining Highway 100. But this restaurant stands out because of its menu, which features many Chinese classics, something for any lover of Mandarin cuisine, along with other pan-Asian delights picked from throughout the Pacific Rim. The food is quality cuisine with a low price tag attached. Like other denizens of the old address, Le Bistro Shanghai includes a drive-thru for those seeking an Asian fix in a hurry. Probably the biggest problem facing the Bistro is that nothing seems to catch on in that particular location, having been home to several restaurants in the past few years, including at least two Chinese places.

Le Bistro Shanghai has absolutly the best food I've ever tasted! I certainly could eat there on a daily basis, infact I did for awile!

Mate SSS - 07/02/2008Enjoyed the food and decor. Evening marred by horrible service. Our cocktails arrived when we were more than halfway thru the meal. We would have asked for them earlier, but just try and find a waitress. And there were only aaabout 4 tables filled in the restaurant. When the drinks arrived, we said "we thought maybe you'd forgotten them" Response, a very flip "well enjoy them now." No apologies, just sarcastic remark. The watress pactically threw down our dishes (really unique plates, all rectangular) and actually did toss down the bill at the end of the meal--it slid across the table in the plastic check folder. Just very poorly trained and inattentive staff ruining an otherwise nice restaurant. Too bad, but if you can't control your staff and serve the customer, you don't get my business again..

cptnheathy - 04/27/2006Best resturtant in milwaukee. Very friendly staff - fast service. The food is incredible. It's not like your average carry-out chinese food. This is high quality cuisine. The lunch special is amazing - includes one meat dish, plus an appetizer, plus soup for around $5.00. You can't get a meal like that any where else! I can't help but go here atleast once a week - Theres a group of my closes family and friends [about 30 or so people] that dine here every week as we enjoy it so much. Keep this place alive!!! Don't let it be another dying resturtant like the past ones in this location. This one is AMAZING.
