If you're looking for an exciting dining experience for everyone in your family, this should be one of your top choices. A space that accommodates more than 300 patrons has been configured to resemble a tropical rain forest. You'll eat underneath tropical foliage while periodic thunderstorms break out (though you don't have to worry about getting drenched). The ceiling is transformed into an equatorial sky with changing colors and bright stars. Animated gorillas and elephants cavort along the walls, while real fish swim in tanks and waterfalls cascade over rocks.

You're likely to spend more time than usual poring over the menu, for two reasons. One is that it's packed with pictures and information about real rain forests and the creatures that live there. The other is that it's especially full, with more than a dozen appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, and burgers and a full slate of entrees. While they may not be quite as exotic as the environment, you'll have plenty of choices ranging from the familiar (steak and fish 'n' chips) to the foreign-influenced (Caribbean coconut shrimp and Tuscan chicken). The children's menu offers plenty of comfort foods such as burgers and chicken nuggets. Be sure to save room for one of the excellent desserts. You can also order beverages from the Magic Mushroom Bar, which features liquor, wine, beer and mixed drinks in addition to soda and juice. After your meal, check out the gift shop, where you'll find drinking glasses, games and other themed merchandise from apparel to zebras. The restaurant also conducts educational programs that include information about conservation, endangered species, and the natural environment, in addition to your meal.

  • LOVE the RFC!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   NEB1997 - 07/30/2009

We love the RFC and visit whenever we can. Been to several of them around the country and the food and service is always good. The Safari Club is a great deal for just $10.00. Food quality and prices very reasonable .....IMO. Love the gift shop too. Just wish there were more locations here in Washington so we could visit more often.

  • themed restaurant in a mall

    Review rating : 4out of 5   Cinqwatson - 07/10/2008

any one eating in a mall and expecting anything more than exceptional food, service or prices obviously doesn't go out very much. I have been to the rainforest cafe in Califonia, Las Vegas and Washington and I have loved all of them. Washington's is by far the worst but it is in a mall what did you expect as far as mall food goes you can't find a better deal or atmosphere. Maybe you should try the food court.

  • Not Spectacular -- Very Scary for Small Children...

    Review rating : 3out of 5   Peppattik - 06/13/2008

I took my son, girlfriend & their toddler there a couple years ago -- food was ok (though quite pricey) -- service was ok -- portions small -- the atmosphere was quite interesting and different, but it scared the toddler and made him cry everytime it sounded. I don't care to go there again...

my husband and i went just on a whim while we were at the mall and only ordered the appetizer sampler and both left feeling gorged, i think we both ate a whole meal off just the appetizer and a couple of drinks. been to the one in orlando as well, awesome atmosphere but you are paying for the name and atmosphere more than the food

  • not great

    Review rating : 2out of 5   aerow0 - 10/11/2004

The place looks really fun, and we expected to enjoy great food.
Serving sizes were small for the price, food was slow, and not great.
Will most-likely NOT go there again.

The catfish tasted like cardboard and my wife's hamburger tasted off, she got sick after we got home. Called the cafe to complain and they indicated they did not care. We called the health department to check them out.

I've been to several RainForest Cafes and this one is just as nifty with all the things there are to see. Scenery 5+*! Our waiter was attentive, nice and very apologetic for the incredibly small portions in the kids meal. It was the right size for a two year old, but not a ten year old. Waiter 5+* Portions 3*. Quality of the food was good, Prices very high for the portion of food, but then you are paying for atmosphere. Interesting way they enter and exit you into the gift shop. All in all I will bring my out of town guests there again, make the kids order extra food, and hope the wait staff is still super friendly. By the way, we were seated next to the gorillas. Scary for some little ones. We can't really recommend a specific meal as there was nothing spectacular besides the atmosphere. You should go and bring a young friend to experience it with you.
