Heaping portions, complex flavors and warm service are the draws at this laid-back, chic barbecue joint. Sandwiches, like pulled pork, fried green tomato, and the signature brisket come with slaw or potato salad. Heartier appetites belly up to plates of baby back ribs, catfish fillets and more, accompanied by side dishes like jalapeno spinach casserole, sweet potato fries or cornbread dressing. Up front has a bright, diner feel (or sidewalk picnic tables, weather allowing), but in back, the cozy, western-themed room invites settling into a booth and sittin' for a spell, perhaps over a wedge of sweet potato pecan pie.

  • YUM ... Can't Wait to Go Again...

This food was "To Die For" -- a little pricey, but definately worth going back to again. Hubby & I shared a "3 Combo" Meal -- choice of any 3 meats (Chicken, Turkey, Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Spare Ribs) with 2 sides and bread. We had Ribs, Beef Brisket & Chicken -- and there was plenty for us to share. The mashed potatoes tasted "Real" and the baked beans "Heavenly". Friends with us had the "Baby Back Ribs" saying the same thing. We all shared an appetizer plate of "Fried Green Tomatoes" that were excellent. If / when I go again, I am going to have the "Jalapeno Spinach Casserole" -- had a bit of my friend's and it was very impressive. Definately will return to this place...

I've been to Texas & Louisiana and I've never had better BBQ than the Pig Iron. The sauces, sweet tea, ribs, sweet potato fries and everything else is excellent. You can tell the owner takes a lot of pride in what he does. I'm getting hungry!

I really enjoy what the Pig Iron has to offer from the food to the service and atmosphere.

  • Not so good

    Review rating : 3out of 5   bkbjones - 04/14/2007

this isn't the best Seattle has. not even close to Jones, and there is a "Louisiana BBQ" joint on Lake City Way that is also much better than Pig Iron. Catfish filets aren't as good as Catfish Corner. I would swear my tater salad came off some food service truck, which just isn't acceptable for a BBQ joint.
