A genuine Seattle success story, Dick's is the oldest fast-food restaurant in Washington and at the forefront of the industry since the Wallingford restaurant was established in 1954. Four more were established in succeeding years, and this mini-chain has not just survived and thrived despite the scores of competing franchise outlets, but also attained iconic status in the Emerald City. There's a simple reason why generations of Seattleites keep coming back, and bringing their children with them. Customers get generous-sized, tasty burgers from meat that's delivered fresh each morning, hand-cut fries from real potatoes, shakes prepared on the spot and soft drinks -- a menu that hasn't changed for a couple of decades and is still available early in the morning. And generally you'll get change back from a five-spot, even if you splurge and go for the top-of-the-line two-patty Dick's Deluxe. The basic fried patty comes with ketchup, mustard and pickle, while the Special adds shredded lettuce and a distinctive special sauce that's spiked with bits of pickle. Enjoy your meal in your car, or head for a nearby spot with a view.

Dick's fan for 40+ years

I began going to the long closed Dick's in Bellevue in the mid 60's, then moved to Capitol Hill for my cheese burgers and fries. The only changes to the menu I can remember since then were the addition of the Special and the Deluxe, change of ice cream brand and soft drink flavors. I haven't lived in the Seattle area for almost 30 years but every visit requires a trip to Dick's. My children and grandson also head to Dick's when they are in the Seattle, I raised them well.
Add CommentDick's is Good, But Kidd Valley Rules!
I've been eating at Dick's since I was a wee tike back in the early 60's. Good burgers, but Kidd Valley is far better.
I Lve Kid Valley

I get Bugers and Fies a Dicks often. But Kid Valley has the Best Burgers in Seattle. I love thew Bacon Cheesburgers, and it the Blue Cheese Bacon Burgers 4 my Wife. In fact I'll go get Burgers there for Dinner tonight.
Where is Kid Valley??
I love Dicks Drive in but Kid Valley should be on this list! It is not even a true test of the best without Kid Valley. I love both!
Nothin' better than Dick's!
At least once a week I travel 44 miles (roundtrip) to Seattle to have 2 Dick's Special Burgers. Been my favorite Burger since 1960. I've tried 'em all: love the King's Whopper & Mac's Big'nTasty but as good as they are, I prefer Dick's. It's probably a good thing the nearest Dick's is 22 miles from home--keeps me from overdoing it.
Mike Baute, Edmonds Wa.Dick's is good but Wally's is better

In beautiful Buckley is Wally's , the home of the Waltimate.
You're served either in your car or inside. The car service is better. The fries come in a brown paper bag and the burger is an artery hardening dream...messy, juicy. HUGE and absolutely delicious!!whitecap
my best favor one for only buger and french fries..I lived in Seattle for 25 years then retired and move to Cave junction, Oregon also still think of Dick's
blast from the past!!!

wow...i'm from schdy ny upstate ny...was in seattle for my son's wedding...rehearsal was dragging on...my daughter and i hadn't had much to eat...lot's of chatting etc. finally i said wanna get outta here for a few minutes?...my son had shown us earlier where the restaurant was on a driving tour of seattle (he said when he was a student at uw he ate there a lot) anyway we were not disappointed...basic good burgers and fries...we went a 2nd time, same great taste...good value for the money...so happy they offer a limited menu, yet consistently do it well...and w/out trying there's a very cool vibe...one of my best memories of seattle...besides the wedding!
