Always crowded no matter when you come, all-brick Mike's (another offering from the Great American Restaurants chain that includes Artie's, Carlyle and Sweetwater Tavern) is the epitome of the casual American eatery where mighty portions rule. You can choose to pass the time in the lively downstairs bar, but if you want to eat seriously, you'll be escorted to an upstairs table. If you're lucky, you'll secure a table near the kitchen where you can get a close-up of the cooks at work. (The restaurant, which averages long wait times, doesn't take reservations; but it's strongly recommended you call ahead to be put on a list shortly before you arrive.)
The menu features a variety of food, like the Tex-Mex egg rolls. The bacon-cheddar burger is a must; the steaks are good, too. Other homey foods include grilled pork chops and the deep-dish apple pie.
Kids are welcomed here (and pampered by the friendly servers), and they'll love the crispy French fries that accompany almost every dish.

Awesome

A friend introduced us to Mike's American Grill a little more than two years ago. They are always busy! It is a 3 story restaurant. Bathrooms in the basement and the 1st and 2nd floors each have their own kitchen. Great service! Great food! It is a little pricey, but worth it. We go for special occasions and when visitors are in town. The Carlyle is good but Sweetwaters is just ok. They are all a little noisy. So, don't think you are going to have a "quiet meal"

We ate there about a year and half ago for the first (and last) time. My niece's chicken was bloody on the inside and she sent it back. She tried to order another meal but was told it would take another 40 minutes. The rest of us already got ours. Luckily, she didnt share my salmon. I was violently ill 2 hours after leaving the restaurant. We have never been back and we definitely dont recommend it to others.
Pro Criminal establishment

anti self protection. will not let Citizens legally carry firearms in this place.

Service

Took my friend for his birthday ,Customer service was outstanding, I normally dont remember names but Kathleen the hostess and my waiter Shawn where outstanding. I did forget the second hostess name but she was excellent she was selling us on the desserts and the chain of restaurants. The food was wonderful appetizer ,salad to dinner lets say I couldn't eat it all had to do doggie bag. Even the drinks where made perfect and we normally dont get second drinks when we go out because they dont make them right . But like I said this was wonderful especially since I never heard of it I just did a search for grill . Here it is a week later and we still talking about it. Whoever MIKe is good job. we argued over who was going to tip Shawn because we both wanted to. It was a b-day treat for my friend and he wanted to tip.
Overall Great Restaurant

Went there tonight for my birthday with my husband and daughter. Long wait....especially for a weeknight. But worth the wait. I had not gone in a couple of years. Decided to go when Mike's was listed as the #2 Family Friendly Restaurant in the area. Although it was my birthday, treated my daughter as if it was hers. Great appetizers, great food (especially the crabcrakes), drinks not watered down and great service. Will definitely not wait years to visit again. Great Place!!!!
