Ask Jimmy Cirrito the type of people who frequent his restaurant and bar, and he'll reply with "the human kind." The range of visitors to this tavern in historic downtown Herndon makes it difficult to label the clientele, but one thing's for certain: Whether it's your first or 41st visit to Jimmy's Old Town Tavern, you'll be treated like a regular.
The menu includes a substantial range of American classics, and the dining room is smoke free until 10PM every night. Washington Redskins and Virginia Tech fans come to watch the game on the big screen, and the chef douses the tavern's chicken wings in sauce shipped from Buffalo, NY when the Bills play. Jimmy's offers a variety of evening entertainment, ranging from Happy Hour Trivia Madness to Texas Hold 'Em Poker Night. But the real draw is the friendly service and uber-laidback atmosphere. If you're looking for spot that makes you feel as comfortable as if you were hanging out at your own house, then Jimmy's Old Town Tavern is the place to be.

Jimmy's is a great place
To all those who've read 'fastflyer96', ignore his post. I've been going to Jimmy's since I moved her in 2000, and NEVER experience or even witnessed a customer being treated like that. I've taken friends and family there, and Jimmy's has fast become a regular choice for all my out of town guests. I often say that someone should write a book on how to run a restaurant the right way - and use Jimmy's as a case study. Their food is really good - they have the best wings in the area (they use the original Buffalo,NY wing sauce), great burgers, and the absolutely best crab soup I've ever had. The thing I really like about Jimmy's is that it welcomes families. We take our kids there (and sit in the 'family section' on the lower level - the bar area can get a little noisy and smokey). There are toys and crayons for our toddler, a children's menu, and servers that really like kids. And, finally, I have to say, there are no other restaurants in Reston/Herndon that I know of that have Braille menus. Jimmy has invested in these - and yes, there are clientele that use them. If you're thinking about Jimmy's - go for it. You'll love it.

Response to Mean Owner
I am sorry to hear that fastflyer96 didn't like his experience at Jimmy's. I was the waitress that took care of his table. In the 4 years I have worked at Jimmy's, I have never had to deal with a table as rude as his. Jimmy has a system in place that makes it impossible for a server to "pad" a check. This table was charged for what they ordered. Jimmy did not throw a fit or embarrass them as he has stated. Fastflyer96, I am sorry that you have spent so much energy and negativity over this. But please, don't post things that aren't correct. I just have a piece of advice for you, next time if you can't pay your bill, PLEASE do not order more drinks. It is as simple as that. Now for my review of Jimmy's.
There is no better place to go on your own to hang out or bring family and friends. You can walk into Jimmy's not knowing a soul, but by the time you walk out you have made hundreds of new friends. It slowly becomes a second home to people. Because they feel at home. Good food, good drinks, good people. That makes a GREAT bar. To many members of the US Military serving overseas and here on home soil, this is home to them. This is their first stop when they return. Jimmy's changes lives and Jimmy himself makes sure that his customers are happy. Yes, he busses tables, he runs food, he serves drinks, he takes orders. He does it all. Because he cares. I recommend this bar to everyone. Come try it out. See for yourself. I did and 4 years later I am still working and hanging out there. Don't let one cheap criminal persuade you. :)Mean Spirited owner

BAD, BAD, BAD, Don't Go!!! I Recently had by far the worst experience That a tavern could ever give. âJimmyâs Old Town Tavernâ in Herndon VA, was able to accomplish some of the most horrible treatment of a regular patron I have ever experienced. The service was slow, and the servers canât keep track of anything that you order. After the bill came and me and my friends realized the bill had more then we ordered, we tried to bring it to the servers attention. Jimmy came over and made the biggest deal about 8 dollars I have ever seen. He just exploded with rage at us because we found the mistake. First we where accused of lying, then jimmy himself accused us of being cheap. He finally took some off the bill, but at a lower price then we where originally paying. He came up to the table and slapped a 20 dollar bill on the table and said, âHere is some help from my pockedâ (Sarcastically). Embarrassed us, Demeaned us, treated us like cheap criminals, and basically told us that he did not care about us as patrons, all because of 8 dollars. The taverns slogan is âWhere everyone is treated like a regularâ Yeah a regular sucker. I would never recommend anyone every go there, the people are mean and they will try to rip you off . If you are smart you should skip it, there are much better places in the area.
Dip to dive for!

Jimmy's is a great 'neighborhood' type bar. Most likely, Jimmy will greet you while you are there, share a good story, have a game of some sort going or a fund raiser for a worthy cause. Oh yes... the food! The chicken wings are great, as is the roast beef on weck (after all this is a Buffalo sports bar, did I forget to mention that?)... but the best thing on the menu is the artichoke and spinich dip! It is so rich a cheesy, served with a variety of flavored nachos... it is to die (or is it to dive) for! Try it... you will like it!
