Got a hankering for the kind of North Carolina pulled pork that you can usually only find at a roadside joint in the South? Satisfy your craving without a road trip at Willard's Real Pit BBQ, located in the strip mall next to the Dulles Expo Center. This barbecue joint features classic barbecue staples such as ribs, jerk chicken and burnt ends, as well as lighter options such as turkey breast sandwiches. Vegetarians, you've got a salad or bean burrito to choose from. A Home-style side dishes, including dirty rice and collard greens, come in sizes from a half-pint to a quart. If you've still got room after that smorgasbord of barbecue, try one of the homemade desserts such as the peanut butter pie or fruit cobbler.

Place your order at the counter and bring it to one of the nice cushioned booths, or call ahead to bring home dinner. You can get meals to go for four or six people for $45 or $67. -- Caroline Morse

Being a huge fan of tender, juicy brisket, this is the best since I went on a BBQ Trail tour in Texas last year. Reminds me of Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor, TX, which, I am glad to mention, they list on their wall.

I've missed the days of visiting grandpa and eating that 'ol eastern NC BBQ. The vinegar sauce is awesome... so glad it's moved to DC!

  • BBQ Pork is great.

The BBQ pork tastes as if it is straight from Rocky Mount, NC. Best pulled pork in this end of the county. Real NC style. The baked beans are cooked from scratch and taste as if Mom made them. I've had other sides and dishes, all of them good. However, the pulled pork is heavenly.

  • Stick to the Beef BBQ

Pork BBQ was mediocre at best, and overpriced.

This is the only place that my wife and I agree on. Two Texans - living in VA for the last 4 years. Willard's has great brisket and chicken. Also, the cornbread is great. Stop by the post office when you go.
