It may not be like father, like son, but this was a favorite restaurant of George Bush Sr., while he was president (or at least the one that made the evening news). He had good taste. The restaurant's signature dish is its plump, juicy and scrumptious Peking duck. It's not inexpensive, but every morsel is succulent, and besides, the chef does it properly: It's carved tableside in the traditional manner. The other signature dish is the jumbo spring onions tossed with lamb (or beef, shrimp or pork). The onions and some of the other produce is grown at the restaurant owner's farm. Portions of most dishes are enormous, so count on taking home leftovers. It's best to come early or reserve ahead; this restaurant fills up fast and stays that way.

I've lived in NOVA for years and never had eaten here until a colleague invited me to lunch, What a hidden treasure I had missed! I've been back many times since. I've also turned on a lot of friends to this excellent establishment.. This service is excellent and the food is scrumptious.

  • Not What It Used To Be

Disappointing is the best description I can give prospective diners! If PG is the number 2 chinese food spot in our area, we don't know chinese food. PG "WAS" the best chinese food I'd had in years, after growing up in and leaving NYC. Unfortunately, something has happened to the food at this establishment (not to mention the service). I have recently made two trips to PG in a two-week period. Both were poor dining experiences. The food was subpar. Not what I expected at a once excellent place to experience chinese food. Not what anyone should expect at a #2 City Choice. Have these voters eaten at PG recently.

  • AMERICAN Chinese Food

    Review rating : 1out of 5   jffrysmit - 02/22/2007

If you really are not a connoisseur of Chinese food and want to experience the dumbed down American version of a lot of great dishes along with seeing a Peking duck carving, this is the circus tent for you. After achieving all of its fame with celebrity status one would think this is a great Chinese restaurant. Great restaurant it is, Chinese, hardly. Sure the food looks Chinese and the people who work there are Chinese, but this restaurant is American. The menu is for tourists. Want to see the sites? Go the Peking Gourmet Inn.

  • Horrible Service

    Review rating : 1out of 5   dameroneliz - 02/20/2007

Horrible "service" - so bad I had to put it in quotes. We were seated at about 5:15 PM, which is when the restaurant is not very busy. Waited more than 20 minutes to have our drink order taken. Mixed drink order was wrong, even the Coke didn't taste right - mostly club soda & little flavor. It took about another 15 minutes to get another soft drink (delivered by someone other than the original waiter), and the correct mixed drink was never brought out. Meal was also served by someone other than the original waiter - a busboy? The meal was fair - not all it's cracked up to be by those who rave about this place. Never saw waiter after the initial drink order, and he was tipped accordingly - $1.00 (which I thought was generous).

  • not worth it

As another reviewer said, this place definitely has arrogance. You are expected to feel honored to be buying food here. The waiters treated me and my date with insulting and arrogant attitude for asking simple questions about food. One star for bad service.
