You don't have to live in Arlington to know that Whitlow's on Wilson denotes a certain deserved renown. An undisputed hotspot for singletons and marrieds alike, this unassuming but popular Clarendon bar is the epitome of Arlington nightlife. Step inside this multiroom bar and restaurant and peel away layers of possibilities: Catch a live music act on the stage up front, or head past the dining tables to the gaming ones and jump into a game of pool or Foosball. There's a newer area in the back with a beach-y feel dubbed "The Sandbar" that can also be reserved for private parties, and two outdoor dining areas -- on the back porch as well as the front sidewalk.
Several nights a week, Whitlow's gets crowded for its weekly theme nights: Half-price burgers on Mondays are almost legendary, Thursdays bring mug-night beer specials to legions of regulars, and open-mike nights occur regularly, drawing talent (and lack thereof) from the local woodwork.

Still #1 in Clarendon

Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, or Drinks, Whitlow's is the best spot in Clarendon. Plenty of seating, good service (except why are hostesses always such C's around these parts?), and reasonable prices.
1/2 price burger night on Monday is a must, and the other happy hours are fantastic too.Add Commentplace sucks
Not a bad place to pick up girls if you don't mind getting packed into a diner with more people than should be in there. Oh, and there's a cover... Never tried the food (heard good things) - but you can't throw a band in a Denny's and make it a bar... Try Ri-Ra across the street.
great keyboardist - lousy bar

I went there to chill with a few clients from out-of-town last tuesday night. It wasnt too crowded but it took forever to get a drink! The only salvation was the keyboard player - he is one of those rare finds who did incredible versions of elton john and billy joel. I wish i could remember his name...:( I have seen quite a few bands in the area but this guy was amazing. I wish I could say the same for Whitlows...
Whitlows Rocks
I find it funny that the people that trash Whitlows don't even know Whitlows. If you like DC (STAY IN DC) As you can tell, there are plenty of people that LOVE Whitlows because they get voted Best in DC every year!! Its a great place to go and hang out with Friends and have a good time. If you want to see a "Headlining Band" Go to MCI Center or 9:30 Club. Your not gonna pay 3 to 5 dollars at the door though. Try $50 + if your lucky... Waa Waa Waa.. Get a life.... Another thing...$11.00 a pitcher?? R U Crazy? Where are you used to going and getting a pitcher for less?? 7 Eleven??
Nothing Special

I recently moved to the Washington area and was told specifically that "Whitlow's is the place to go." Having gone there, I doubt I will take this friend's advice again. The service was less than adequate, the beer over-priced ($11 for a pitcher of Bud Light...come on...), the people, for the most part, were foreign exchange students or college dropouts looking for a fight, and the atmosphere reminded me more of a hole-in-the-wall diner moreso than a bar. The band wasn't great either. My recommendation: DC has several other bars such as Cap Lounge, or the Bricksgellar that are more fun, more appealing, more attractive, and equally if not less expensive.

whitlow's is a big bar compared to most places in Arlington. the crowd is a little dorky, the music usually sucks, parking is the same for everywhere else in the area (not close by) they do have an awesome brunch on sundays and some good drink specials. do not get mixed drinks involving soda because it is usually FLAT

I wish I could give negative stars. I have been to Whitlow's a few times and always thought it was just ok. The layout is bad for a band and the lighting isn't the greatest. This past Saturday I was in there with my girlfriend and another buddy. After about 3 and half hours we were asked to leave! We were sitting at the table minding our business, we had 4 pitchers of lite beer... almost 1 pitcher an hour! The manager said we looked intoxicated!!! NO way we could be drunk off of 4 pitchers! I feel it came down to us not spending enough money there... there is no other reason we can think of. We were sitting at a nice table in front of the band, they probably wanted the table for some dinner seeking people. My friends and I are NEVER walking into that dump again. The manager needs to get her head out of her butt and stop trying to judge everyone!! I have never been treated like that before... and neither should YOU!!!

Whitlow's is not all it's made out to be. Everyone is mostly snobby and the parking in the area is horrific!
My advice to you is get there at 10 before anyone else parks, THEN try to enjoy yourself.
I have been there 3 times and the bands were not good--need to improve the music--Clarendon Grill has the better bands and better food if you want to go out in the area--Clarendon Ballroom is also a better choice.
