While some bargoers might refuse to be seen in a mall bar, if their hand was forced and they had to pick one to go to, it might be Rock Bottom Brewery in Ballston Common Mall. Not to say that this branch of the brewpub chain is a hipster hang out by any means. But as mall bars goes, it will do. Rock Bottom is a restaurant as well as a bar, but hey they brew their own beer. Thus, the two bars are not only large but surrounded by ample bar seating (high tables and stools) to accommodate just about any size happy hour group. Most bars in mall restaurants aren't so generous. There's also the added plus of an outdoor patio, usually reserved for diners only, but large and nicely decked with lovely flower baskets.
As for beer, if you just can't decide from the half-dozen or so listed on the menu, order a Rock Bottom sampler; it offers a small serving of several homemade selections. -- J.E. Coan

Great Beer

If you are in Arlington, you really should try this place. Try the beer sampler your first time, then go for the great beer specials nearly everyday of the week.
For good beer, this is the place in Arlington.Add CommentGreat desert and great food
If you are looking for a fancy restaurant, this is not it. This restaurant is very laid back and unpretentious with a great atmosphere, food and drinks. Try their Margajito (a mix of mojito and margarita) Wednesday is a dollar pint night so this place gets packed. The service will be a bit slow that day but you still get served. For a less crowded day, try thursdays for $3 Martini's yum yum....I loooooooove this place. Since I live around there it is a great place to go for fun. Oh yea and try the beer.
One more thing about that comment made on the reviews...there are always going to be ladies who will be snobby and reject you....don't use that as a way of discrediting the bar.Nothing new here...
This is another one of those places where the food is decent. The only difference between this place and Fridays/Ruby's/Bennigans is that they brew their own beer. Nothing to write home about. Your best bet is the pizza. Again, it's pretty decent, and not great.

Great beer, too bad happy hour does not include cask or seasonal. Asahi Tuna is yummy.
