The pies made Marie Callender's famous, but secretaries, military personnel and retired couples return regularly to the national chain for the classic American diner menu writ large. The offerings get a little fancy here and there, like the Gorgonzola and pepper-crusted sirloin steak, or the Cavatappi artichoke and mushroom chicken, but it's all designed to lead to a simple and inevitable conclusion: pie. There are more than 30 flavors to choose from -- and all can be bought whole to take home -- with double cream favorites such as cherry and classics such as the "Sky High" Boston cream pie among the contenders for your sweet tooth. The restaurant also offers banquet facilities, family and holiday takeout dinners and a cozy bar with specialty drinks and a clear view of the big-screen TV. There is a Sunday brunch that includes made-to-order omelettes and some of the best pie around.
