Message from Magnolia Pancake Haus

Popular breakfast spot that doesn't take new fangled shortcuts.
We mix all of our batters from scratch several times a day. We use grade AA large farm fresh eggs, real butter, pure cream, half & half and buttermilk. Our syrups are made in house and our Applewood bacon, hams and Canadian bacon are selected for their unique and wholesome flavors. Our sausage is custom-blended contains no fillers or artificial ingredients. We offer the finest brewed coffee, using the latest in coffee technology to ensure consistent flavor and freshness. We are sure you will agree that The Magnolia Pancake Haus is quite unique and very different from any other restaurant. Everything we do at The Magnolia Pancake Haus is driven by one common belief: Quality counts. From the items we offer to the ingredients we use, to the caliber of our staff, it is clear that we take our customers' expectations of quality and value very seriously.Visit Citysearch.com

Popular breakfast spot that doesn't take new fangled shortcuts.

In Short
A consistent local family favorite, Magnolia prides itself on old-fashioned preparations of breakfast and lunch favorites. According to owners Robert and Sheila Fleming, their almost famous pancakes are made from batters mixed from scratch several times a day. And the restaurant uses real butter, pure cream, half & half and buttermilk, makes it's own syrups and offers custom blended all-natural sausage from whole hogs. The menu includes fresh fruits in season, authentic Munich apple Pfannekuchen, peach and pecan waffles, applewood-smoked bacon, frittatas and made-from-scratch corned beef hash.

My family and I went here two mornings in a row and still couldn't get enough. San Antonio is a great vacation, and Magnolia makes it even GREATER! Superb pancakes, eggs, bacon. Texas' best.

    Wonderful Pfannekuchen

  • Pfannekuchen to die for!!!

Magnolia Pancake Haus knows how to make a seriously delicious breakfast. We went on a Tuesday morning so we didn't wait too long (about 10 minutes). But even if the wait was 2 hours it would have been worth it. We ordered the Munich Apple Pfannekuchen and it tasted absolutely incredible. So sweet and tasty you could have had it for dessert. We also tried the oatmeal raisin cookie pancakes which were not too sweet but very good. We also ordered the green eggs and ham omlette which consisted of ham, spinach, green peppers, jack cheese and pesto. YUMMMY!!!!! I like the way this restaurant offered my two-year old son a free pancake (as is their policy with all children 4 and younger). The server was very attentive and friendly and every moment was enjoyable. Can't wait to come back!!!

My husband and I tried the Magnolia Pancake Haus on a weekday. The service was moderate, but the food was absolutely wonderful. We both had eggs and pancakes. This place is a definite keeper as far as we are concerned.

This was honestly the BEST breakfast I have ever had. French toast was truly exquisite, and the sausage is hands down, the most flavorful I've ever eaten. I love to drive over from Austin just for the breakfast. It is truly worth the road trip.

  • Service Somewhat Lacking

The food was good but one person in my party was served lukewarm coffee and scrambled eggs though fried eggs were ordered. The Shrimp Louis salad was pretty good. I'll have to try breakfast food next time.

  • Somewhat prejudice

    Review rating : 1out of 5   justcraig35 - 07/09/2005

Tried this place after reading a review. Food is good, but felt some prejudice discomfort from the host. Two of us entered right before another couple and the other couple was seated before us. I know I could have walked out, but, it was something I was willing to overlook. Another thing I did not like was when the guy who seemed to be the owner did a walk thru and only stopping to chat with guests at two different tables to see how they were doing, leaving another 12 or so tables unvisited. We were all paying with money to eat at his place, if you come out to say hi, say hi to all of the tables, not just a select few. It's not like he was there doing any work. It took my waitress over 10 minutes to refill my water glass and that is not acceptional. The food was good, but other than that, not a great place. I did not tip and I will not be returning there. I feel better hospitality at the Flour Power Cafe in Huebner Oaks area. Everyone smiles at you and they all say hello and work as a team. I guess the Magnolia flowers at the Magnolia Pancake Haus should have been the first hint. In Mississippi, my people were hung on Magnolia trees. Something else I tried to overlook.

  • Go Early, Eat Often

We eat there alot and are continuously impressed with the quality meats and quantity of food for the price. We get there early to avoid the wait or go during the week and walk right in. If you hit at the wrong time, the wait is the only negative I can think of. D.

  • Great Breakfast

It was the best Birthday breakfast I ever had. The pancakes melted in my mouth. My son ate his pancakes and bacon in record time. We went on a weekday morning and were seated right a way.
