Message from Magnolia Pancake Haus

Popular breakfast spot that doesn't take new fangled shortcuts.
We mix all of our batters from scratch several times a day. We use grade AA large farm fresh eggs, real butter, pure cream, half & half and buttermilk. Our syrups are made in house and our Applewood bacon, hams and Canadian bacon are selected for their unique and wholesome flavors. Our sausage is custom-blended contains no fillers or artificial ingredients. We offer the finest brewed coffee, using the latest in coffee technology to ensure consistent flavor and freshness. We are sure you will agree that The Magnolia Pancake Haus is quite unique and very different from any other restaurant. Everything we do at The Magnolia Pancake Haus is driven by one common belief: Quality counts. From the items we offer to the ingredients we use, to the caliber of our staff, it is clear that we take our customers' expectations of quality and value very seriously.Visit Citysearch.com

Popular breakfast spot that doesn't take new fangled shortcuts.

In Short
A consistent local family favorite, Magnolia prides itself on old-fashioned preparations of breakfast and lunch favorites. According to owners Robert and Sheila Fleming, their almost famous pancakes are made from batters mixed from scratch several times a day. And the restaurant uses real butter, pure cream, half & half and buttermilk, makes it's own syrups and offers custom blended all-natural sausage from whole hogs. The menu includes fresh fruits in season, authentic Munich apple Pfannekuchen, peach and pecan waffles, applewood-smoked bacon, frittatas and made-from-scratch corned beef hash.

After reading all the hype, we decided to try it out. Meh. Dinky interior, poor service, dirty table and so-so food.

Go to LePeep or even Jim's and get better everything.

This restaurant combines excellent service and delicious food for a very satisfying experience. You will wait for a table but it is well worth the wait.

  • The best pancakes EVER!!!!

Eventhough the place is always packed and always takes about a half hour to get a table, the food is really worth the time. These pancakes make IHOP's and any other pancake house's pancakes taste like MickyD's pancakes. The staff is super friendly. Speed of service is great. My fiance and I love this place.

OMG!!! A sweet smile greeted us at our table one recent rainy morning. The server warmed our mugs and then poured steaming hot coffee that was a perfect flavor! Melt in your mouth buttermilk pancakes....the Sarki's omelet was delicious, we also tried the new whole wheat granola pancakes...A++. Service was impeccable!

The place is crowded anytime you go. The food is great, large portions, fresh and tasty. The service is a bit slow, but seeing is that every table is packed no matter when you go, I can understand how hard it is to navigate through all those bodies and keep all those orders straight. My only worst complaint of the place was the waiting. They need to invest in a larger space in which to accomodate the crowds. They have outdoor seating in a partially covered area for those waiting to get a table, but in the summer months that can get miserable. The place is small, too small for the business they do. So come early and bring your appetite. If you are looking for a great traditional breakfast, then this is the place.

Each t ime we have been there, the service has been absolutely horrible. Each time I have ordered the French Toast and the pancakes were more than toasty. I doubt I will go back, after wating 30 minutes to be seated and then have your food served burnt and then you can't get a server to come back, it really is not worth. We have been to the old location and then to the new location.

I have been eating here since they opened and even though they moved accross the parking lot the quality is as good or better than before. Certianly judging by the crowds they are as popular as ever. I have always had good if not great service and all of the staff is very nice. We love the ambiance and the comfortable BIG booths not to mention the yummy Eggs Benedict.

Don't let the wait scare you off it moves along pretty quickly.

I'm from San Antonio and always looking for new breakfast restaurants. On 1/6/07 (Sat) @ 12:00, my girlfriend and I decided to try Magnolia, but since it was packed, we wanted to order out. The host, possibly a manager, was very rude. Asked if we could order to go, he pointed to the cashier and said, "I don't know because she is very busy right now." Shocked I asked if that was a yes or no, he said, "If you hurry you might be able to." At that point, we left and went to Le Peep right up the freeway. Great food if not as good/better, and the service is awesome.
