Juicy burgers, ample portions, modest pricing and an exceptionally family-friendly atmosphere mark Longhorn Cafe. Located in the City Base Landing retail center, Longhorn Cafe draws repeat business from fans of the local chain. With its large and airy dining room that's fit for sprawling comfort and patio seating worthy of fair weather feasting, the cafe's mood is casual and fun. Check for daily food specials or order from the menu board above the stainless steel counter. There you'll find not just burgers but also chicken and fish sandwiches. If you want to break the fried food barrier, order up a ribeye steak, turkey or grilled chicken sandwich or one of the several available salads. The cafe's open kitchen allows guests to see their food prepared as well as to hear the lively kitchen chatter. Televisions anchored high on the walls allow some diversion while you wait on your food order. The kids can visit the small game room near the restroom area. When your name (not an impersonal number) is called, pick up your tray of food at the counter. At this point, diners with anything less than a very healthy appetite may want to pick up a Styrofoam to-go container. It's likely you'll have leftovers after you attempt to tackle the mound of food before you.

If you're tired of the awful traffic of the Northside and want to slow it down a bit, come to Longhorns! I live about 5 miles away and I have to restrain myself from going so often, if not I would seriously be overweight, you just want to eat everything. Try the fried pickles, they are so cool to have as appetizers!
I do agree with the previous poster about the folks who work there seem to be happy doing what they do and that makes the experience all the better.

I moved away from San Antonio a few years ago. The Longhorn Cafe is one of the things I miss the most. My whole family reminisce about our outings there. Huge, tasty, juicy burgers!!! Great fries, tator tots, onion rings.... YUMMM!! And I love their fried chicken sandwich as well. It's ALL good!!! If you haven't been.... you need to go. The atmosphere is fun, comfortable. They play great music, and the people are friendly. Without a doubt, the next time I visit.... I will eat there more than once... it's THAT good

Actually I have never been to this place but I rated it good just because no restaurant is perfect. You might get a disease from just about anywhere. If there would have been a Veggie Burger Option I would have rated that BEST for health, the Earth, TASTE, the Animals and, last but not least, for the starving people of the world.

Friendly staff, fun atmosphere, inexpensive, great location. Bringing Longhorn pride to the Southside. (yes many of us southsiders are Longhorn alumni!!!)

You have to try this place out. I was a little hesitant as I had never heard of it before, but I'm so glad we tried it. We have a real growth on the south side and this is a welcomed addition. I had their version of a philly cheese steak and it was awesome & tender. Their burgers are huge and I loved their french fries. They even have an game area for my kids to throw a few quarters in while you are waiting for you meal! I will DEFINATELY be back! Keep up the good work! :)

  • Smiling Cooks

Went to the restaurant at the peak of lunch time and they were getting slammed. I had to go up to the cooks and tell them they did an awesome job! Some other restaurants may have been complaining, but these were all fairly young folks and really seemed to enjoy their job. They appreciated the kudo's. Great bugers too!
