One of the nation's oldest jazz clubs, The Landing has become a virtual institution on San Antonio's famed River Walk. Featuring regular performances by owner and musician Jim Cullum Jr. and the renowned Jim Cullum Jazz Band, the club attracts jazz lovers from all over the country. In addition to fine music, The Landing offers a limited, yet impressive, menu. Consider the Landing crab cake sandwich, baked sea bass with paprika onion rings or that old standby -- the double-stacked Dagwood chicken sandwich. An adequate selection of accompanying wines and cocktails is also available. Diners can choose from seating on the River Walk patio or inside in air-conditioned comfort. This makes for a classy spot to impress a date. The interior of The Landing is tastefully mood-setting. Old photos of jazz greats on the wall, wood flooring, selectively diminished lighting and round tables resembling old records add to the jazzy atmosphere. If you want to get into this establishment (especially on weekends), reservations are a must. -- Chris Jones

The Landing is a total class jazz club. The musicians are so very gifted and inspirational. Let's keep jazz alive and support The Landing.
    I love the place.

Anyone who complains about The Landing probably doesn't get along well with anyone. There's no place like it. If you enjoy being entertained by professional musicians in a cozy attmosphere, don't pass it up. It's not hard to find. If you can find the Hyatt, you can find The Landing. it's on the first floor. If you love Dixie Land jazz and friendly people, you'll love it. A place you'll always remember.

We weren't here for the food, just the music and it was top rate. Loved the jazz intruments hanging from each of the outdoor table umbrellas. Drink slowly though. At $9 a drink your wallet can get thin mighty fast. The band works well with the audience even inviting one elderly lady up to sing her favorite song with them and the Riverwalk setting is gorgeous.

If you like overbearing jazz music and pricey drinks this is the place for you.
When first calling "The Landing" to get directions and reservations there was no nice greeting over the phone. Second, the directions that were given to us were completely wrong. When finally arriving, the door greeter was rude in insisting that we did not have reservations and when finally was corrected, no apology. Then when finally seated not one staff member approached us to ask if we would like anything to drink, did we need anything, or offer even so much as a smile for a full 45 minutes. Basically between each visit of the waitress was at least 30 minutes.
Food was far over priced for size and taste. I will never waste my time or money again on this place.

The great jazz is what draws most here to this tiny smokey jazz club ... have been going there for ages...
