If you've ever folded a doublewide slice of hot, cheesy New York-style pizza before carefully wrapping your mouth around it, you'll likely understand why Goomba's Pizzeria tops many a pizza lover's list. They buy it by the pie or by slice at the rate of more than 200 slices served daily. Goomba's also draws its eclectic mix of diners with the promise of plump calzones, authentic "Buffalo (N.Y.) Wings" and more than 20 hot and cold sub sandwiches. Pasta offerings include fettuccini chicken alfredo, five-layer meat lasagna and chicken marsala in mushroom wine sauce. As its name implies, Goomba's is the type of establishment you can enjoy with family and close friends. The atmosphere is laid-back and comfortable. Posters, photos and other New York and Italian-themed memorabilia line the walls. Kids will probably want a handful of quarters to play some of the arcade games at one end of the spacious dining room. Sports lovers can monitor one of the several wall-mounted TVs at the other end. With so much to recommend it, it's not hard to understand why Goomba's ranks among the city's best.

WE CALLED AHEAD TO GO & THEY QUOTED 35 MINUTES. THEY HAD OVER AN HOUR AND IT STILL WASN'T READY. THE MANAGER HAD AN ATTITUDE. THE PIZZA WAS COLD WHEN WE WERE WAITING AND THE WINGS WEREN'T READY. VERY DISORGANIZED AND I COULD TELL FROM THE MINUTE I PLACED THE ORDER TO GO. WE WERE RECOMENDED BASED ON THE FOOD, BUT EXPECT SERVICE AS WELL . 1 STAR IS TOO MUCH.

I have been going there for a couple of years and they have really been slacking lately. Their pizza will be great one month and terrible the next. Their staff is slow and constantly screwing up orders. I mean just sitting there watching people coming to get their orders, you can see that they should KNOW that their service is poor. The past 2 times I've gone I was less than impressed and actually found this page because I was looking for a new pizza place. You may want to keep looking.

  • Staff is Cold and Inconsistant Pizza

    Review rating : 2out of 5   SELFEL - 07/01/2008

I have been here for Pizza 6 times now. My son-inlaw took me there. I always order Double Pepperoni and They ALWAYS just put the normal amount and I have to complain. Last week when I ordered a Large Double Peperoni and 2 Kids Pepperoni pizzas for my Granddaughters, I am NOT Kidding, the Kids Pizza had more Pepperoni than my Double Pepperoni Pizza.

The Service Lacks BIGTIME, The young staff is cold and slow. Getting Draft Shinners is almost more pain than it's worth. Most of the time the Girl taking the order is too young to pour and serve beer, or the are out of Beer Glasses or they don't know how to pour tap beer and tell me it's not working right.

I am moving my Business some where they care about my business. Everytime I take the Family and Grandkids there I spend at least $100 for food and the arcade games and It just isn't worth it at Goomba's.

Goomba's is a wonderful little place where you can have pizza awesome enough to make you wanna jump all over. I especially like the mushrooms they use. Everything's so ********* feels like I've grown 10x my normal size!

  • GOOD FOOD!

Honestly I have been going to Goomba's for years. I have had everything from there pizza, salad, wings, pasta, sandwiches. They have great food that you can not take away from the place. I would have to agree about the service though. Once I waited for like 20-30 min for an order that I called in. I couldn't understand why I was waiting that long so I finally went up to see what the problem was and they had my food on top of the oven. Who knows how long it had been there just waiting and no one bothered to call out my #. I read on here that someone tried there pizza and it tasted like something that you can get from the mall. It really depends on what kind of pizza you get. They have lunch specials for like $4 or $5. The pizza that comes with the specials I would agree does taste like something out of the mall, but that's the specials. In order to get the really good pizza you have to get a custom made pizza. The food here is AWESOME!! I have been going since it first opened, and will continue to go. Just a little helpful tip. The H.E.B on Blanco and West Ave has coupons on the back of there receipts for GOOMBA's. One coupon is buy one entree get one free. The second coupon is for buy one med pizza get the second free. I have left Goomba's many times with two pasta entree's with salad for only $10. All I would have to say is try it for yourself! If you don't like it just don't go back..

  • Great pizza.Bad service

    Review rating : 2out of 5   begbie8667 - 08/14/2007

The pizza is the best in town. The service is HORRID. I would never do business with them again if it was not for the fact that their pizza is so good. The young high school girls that run the counter are pure idiots. We order two medium pizzas (with the coupon) at least once a week and every time I call they put me on hold and end up accidentally hanging up on me. Then I have to SLOWLY tell the girl my order (she never gets it right the first time). Then I always ask for my total since 80% of the time they don't get that right either. For such excellent food the owner should quit hiring kids and put some people on the register who are competent. But, like I said, they have the best pizza in town if only it wasn't such a hair pulling ordeal to get to it.

  • The best by far

This is the pizza to die for! I have tried the other "better:" places, but if you like NY style, this is home! if you don't then stay home. I have never had a pizza as good as Goomba's. If it takes 2 hours to get your pizza, and it does on game nights, it is worth the wait. And you can call and order your pizza ahead of time on game nights, and eat in, if you can find a table.
As far as I am concerned there is no single flaw here. it is just excellent pizza!
You can get thin crust or regular, they will top it anyway you want. The people working there are very friendly, A++++++
