There are at least two noteworthy things about Cristan's Tacos. First: The striking pastel colors of the building that houses the Mexican food restaurant are hard to miss. Second: If you approach the place in the early morning hours, you're likely to see a line of patrons waiting for a table or to take out some of Cristan's coveted breakfast tacos. With more than 20 types of breakfast tacos to its credit, Cristan's is a favorite on San Antonio's Eastside. Bean and cheese (with bacon) and gravy-rich carne guisada are two of the eateries most popular taco choices. While the breakfast tacos are a big draw, don't forget that Cristan's serves lunch, too. Menudo, nachos, chalupas and enchiladas have their rightful place on the menu. Stop by this taco house and you won't regret it.

Tortilla Heaven

30 years ago, I picked up Cristan's Tortillas on the way to work @ Kelly AFB. A few months ago, I returned to Texas after a 30 year absence and rediscovered this wonderful restaurant. Now I make a trip from Corpus Christi @ least twice a month to enjoy the cheese enchiladas and the mouthwatering, soft, fluffy-ish flour tortillas. Coffee is aromatic, the green sauce outstanding. Service is excellent @ both locations. I breakfast @ the Walzem Rd on one visit and the original location on Hildebrand the next. Hi Rose! and staff @ Hildebrand. C u next week :)
