Message from County Line

On the scenic Riverwalk in the South Bank Complex (next to The Hard Rock), The County Line is a great place to enjoy an ice cold beer or a frosty margarita at the open-air bar. Inside, the funky Texas roadhouse atmosphere will make you feel like you've wandered out into the Texas Hill Country. Private party barges are also available. The County Line Restaurants have been serving up legendary barbecue since 1975. During that period, the County Line Restaurants have been the foci of numerous feature articles and have been voted Best Barbecue in almost every one of their respective cities. Our barbecue is so in-demand that we ship it all across the country.Visit Citysearch.com

Barbecue that's all gussied up.

In Short
While purists might be dismayed to find that their meat arrives at the table already doused in sauce, they'll be appeased by brisket that boasts a thick red line of smoky flavor, peppery turkey breast and the highly recommended homemade sausage. County Line is also one of the few barbecue places where the side dishes are worth tasting.

i went to a County Line BBQ a few years ago and it was off the loop on the north side of san antonio----it was outstanding. Is that location still operating?---it was in a woodsy setting and food was great

  • County Line on the LAKE in Austin, Texas is where it all began...

    Review rating : 3out of 5   Gjhellman - 06/06/2008

I do not understand why County Line on the LAKE in Austin, Texas is not being rated? Also Stateline in El Paso. I have been to both and they are excellent.

  • Deeeelish!

I've eaten at the I-10 location several times and have gotten nothing but great service! The ribs (pork and beef) are excellent but try the burgers - they're WONDERFUL!! This is always where we bring friends and family when they come in to visit from Colorado.

  • Dissapointing

I have eaten at the county Line in Austin a number of times and enjoyed the experience. I would have to say my visit to the Riverwalk County Line was a major dissapointment to say the least.

The best description of my plate on arrival would be a swimming pool of BBQ sauce totally drowning the meat on my plate.

Needless to say I wont be eating there on my next visit to San Antonio

  • Terrible Food

    Review rating : 1out of 5   popomsms - 10/13/2006

I have eaten at both the locations and will never eat there again. The ribs and brisket were very bland with no taste to it. Overall the food and service was terrible. I now go to Rudy's and that place is great.

FIST AND FOREMOST LET ME TELL YOU FOLKS THAT YOU ARE NOT GETTING FRESH BBQ AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT, THE BBQ IS SMOKED 18-20 HOURS AT THEIR I-10 LOCATION THEN SHIPPED OVER TO THE RIVERWALK, WHATEVER IS NOT SOLD IS SIMPLY REFRIGERATED FOR THE NEXT DAY. OTHER ISSUES I'D LIKE TO POINT OUT ARE THE PERSON THAT MAKES YOUR SALADS IS NOT WEARING GLOVES AND IS MAKING THEM WITH HIS/HER BARE HANDS, ALSO...THE PERSON SAUSING UP YOUR PLATES IS NOT WEARING GLOVES AND WILL OFTEN TOUCH YOUR FOOD WITH HIS/HER BARE HANDS. THE PLACE HAS A ROACH/RAT PROBLEM AND EMPLOYESS HAVE BEEN WITNESSED USING ILLEGAL DRUGS IN THE RESTROOM. MANAGERS ALSO SMOKE IN THE BUILDING AFTER CLOSING WHICH IS AGAINST CITY ORDINANCE, ALL IN ALL, IF YOUR GOING TO SPENDING $20 PER PLATE, I WOULDN'T DO IT HERE. ANOTHER THING IS THEIR DISHWASHER MACHINE IS OLD AND RUNS OUT OF HOT WATER CONSISTENTLY, BARTENDERS WILL POUR YOU ABOUT 1OZ OF TEQUILLA FOR A $15 MARGARITA. THIS PLACES CARES ABOUT ONE THING, THEIR PROFIT MARGIN & YOUR MONEY, EMPLOYEES ARE OFTEN SEEN EATING IN THE KITCHEN/DISH ARE WHICH IS ALSO A HEALTH CODE VIOLATION. TAKE IT FROM SOMEBODY WHO'S BEEN THERE AND SEEN IT.

  • Not worth the money

    Review rating : 3out of 5   yul77 - 05/02/2006

The food was mediocre for not-so-mediocre prices. Pork ribs had a funny after taste (and by funny....I mean gross). The smoked turkey was nothing special. The best thing on the menu was the beef ribs. Everything was served on a plate drowning in sauce. The beans were flavorless. Service was barely acceptable. Save yourself the disappointment and go to Blue Cactus where your food doesn't require a flotation device just to be found on the plate.

  • Very Expensive for Decent BBQ

    Review rating : 3out of 5   nellson66 - 01/21/2005

Really not that great of food and a rip off in my opinion. I couldn't taste the meat because there was so much sauce. The sides were bland, especially the beans. I don't know what all the hype is about this restaurant.

  • Plumber That installed Plumbing there
