  • OVERPRICED AND WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!!!!

    Review rating : 1out of 5   Cotton9600 - 06/20/2008

We planned a birthday party dinner with 10 friends and had heard that Bohanan's was so incredible we just HAD to try it. Well, we did and have never, ever been so overcharged and disappointed with a meal in all our years together. The waitress was absolutely incompetent and could not get any portion of the order correct, the food was mediocre, and the price was average for a nice meal. The bad part was that the service stunk worse than a pile of garbage and the manager never did a thing about it, even when one of our guests asked that someone else with some experience assist our table. She had accidentally overcharged us $277 and it took nearly an hour for her to get the bill correct. Will not go back or recommend this to others.

The perfect place for that special occation. The menu and wine list can't be beat. The presentation is perfect. Although a bit expensive for some, this is the place for that occational treat. Eat here and then go across the street and see a show at the Majestic Theater for a great evening.

I have been dining at Bohanan's Prime Steaks & Seafood since Chef / Owner Mark Bohanan first opened in 2002 and watched with much happiness as he has continued to rake in many accolades for his fine-dining establishment. I have met Mark several times as he loves to visit with the guests when he can break away from the kitchen. I was especailly pleased to read in the December issue of Texas Monthly of how they rated Bohanan's as the number 2 steakhouse in Texas and number 1 in San Antonio. Way to go Chef Mark Bohanan! If you have never had the opportunity to dine at this gem you are truly missing out on the best prime steaks anywhere! Not to mention the wide variety of fresh seafood which my wife loves instead. Their in-house wine /sommelier manager has put together an award winning list that compliments any entree you could select. Congratualtions Mark, I am so proud that you are in our city & are continually raking in the awards!

  • Granny must be in the Kitchen

    Review rating : 3out of 5   boboso44 - 12/20/2006

My buddy Eddie and me dropped into Bonanans one Saturday last month and we had a real nice lunch.

The place looks kinda high-brow...but trust me.....the people and the food ain't.

I had the ole standby Chicken Fried. Eddie was feeling adventurous and ordered the Meatloaf.

We kinda shared when the food landed at the table and we both agreed that this place was way better than what we'd been hearin.

Topped it off with some of the best coconut creme ice-box pie we've ever had downtown.....south of Pecan Street.

Sure......Morton's will still be our choice at dinner......but for a saturday lunch......every third saturday or so.....this Bonanans is real nice. Used to have to go up the street to the Lone Star to get creme gravy like this.

I just read the recent posting of " Granny must be in the kitchen," and I had to give my two cents worth. I think that the person posting must have been confused with another restaurant because they are not open for lunch on Sat., nor serve meatloaf or coconut pie. They are open for lunch Mon-Fri.. and they have the best Chicken Fried Steak in town. I would HIGHLY encourage this person to try Bohanan's for dinner because they have the best Prime Steaks that I have ever eaten, ever, not to mention awesome seafood. I would much rather eat at a Chef Owned Restaurant rather than a chain anyday.

Rude Hostess, horrible service (slow and rude), wrong meals (blamed the kitchen), average food. At least it was expensive!
