That buzz you hear on entry to Blue Cactus Cafe is the revival of the lost art of conversation over a satisfying meal. After all, the place does offer plenty to talk about. Located in the historic building that once served as the Wetmore General Store and Post Office, Blue Cactus Cafe's rustic wooden facade and homey dining areas (complete with antlered trophy mounts) harbor a family-friendly atmosphere. The Welcome to Texas sign anchored flush to the dining room ceiling also speaks volumes about the easygoingness of the place. If you've got the family in tow, feel free to turn the little ones loose in the Kids Corral play area. On the menu, the brisket is a top seller -- though parties of four or more favor the Pig-Out Platters that offer four barbecue meats and three sides to boot. The weekday lunch specials are mostly under $7 and include sides and a soft beverage. Draft and bottled beer, wine and margaritas are also available. It's a musical potpourri Thursdays through Sundays when The Blue Cactus Cafe hosts bluegrass, rock, rockabilly and more. Inside or out (weather permitting), the scene is vintage Texas. If all that doesn't loosen up your tongue for some table talk, nothin' will.

Finally a place we really enjoyed.
The food was excellent and the service was great.
We had the kids with us and the had lots of fun playing outside and inside. Every thing was very clean it was very much appreciated.
    Keep up the good work.

  • Don't believe the hype!

This place is hyped as a great family place. Structurally, yes...it's great. Playground, "kids korral" and great service.

But the place FAILS on food. The brisket is fatty, the BBQ sauce tastes only of vinegar and the sweet tea seems like it was made from a mix. My family and I have never been more disappointed in a place to eat.

For all of those that voted for Rudy's--You probably have never eaten the BBQ at the Blue Cactus!

I just recently discovered the Blue Cactus Cafe & for sure it has been to my detriment of my palate that I have not partaken of their outstanding menu before. Their bar-b-que is excellent, very moist, flavorful (out of this world!), and the servings are quite generous, indeed. Brisket is wonderful, sausage is wonderful, & the turkey is the best I have tasted. Onion rings are homemade & delectable, spud salad is right tasty, and their burgers are excellent also. Ambience makes the visit worthwhile. I visit about once a week now, I'm hooked & loving it! In short, I am extremely glad that I found this gem of an eatery. Better than most of the other highly touted Bar-b-que establishments in town.

Although it was good, service was terrible and drinks were bland. Just had some Smokey Onion Brisket and Chicken Fried Steak and they blew you away!!!

    Excellent,

We have been looking for a good BBQ place for a long time, and now we found it. The food was excellent and the service was great.
The grand kids had lots of fun playing in and outdoors, plus every thing was very clean.
We will recommend it to every body.
