Dickey's, having been around for almost 60 years now, has perfected the art of slow-smoking meat over hickory wood until it's fork-tender and full of flavor, and just the odor of it wafting toward you will stir up any appetite. It's best to decide exactly what you want before you get in line, because there are so many appealing choices -- nine types of meat and poultry and 20-some side dishes; dinners or sandwiches; or one of the daily specials. Indecisive people can opt for the sampler platter, which includes a taste of each of the meats. The lean, tender slices of brisket, pork and turkey are our favorites, and we like to pair them with the dill potato salad, macaroni and cheese, barbecued beans and coleslaw. The only other choice is hot or mild barbecue sauce (hot), and you're ready for a chow-down. Parents especially like the weekend special-one free child's meal with each adult purchase of $5.99 or more. The large dining area is filled with no frills, wooden square tables.

Worst BBQ I Have Had Thus Far
lonestar0327 - 12/03/2007I am from east texas first of all, so I am a bit partial... however... Dickey's has to be the worst bbq i have eaten, period. The meat is terrible. Dry, tasteless, whatever you want to call it. Dickey's has done to the bbq sandwich what burger king did to the burger. It is a disgrace to even associate Dickey's with good bbq, as far as my experience with the restraunt has gone. On another note, if you want cheap bbq for the family... this may not be a bad place. I'm just warning readers that Dickey's is the fast food version of bbq. If you are visiting texas and are displeased with Dickey's , please don't associate the food with our state.
Worst BBQ in Dallas
lordtzer0 - 05/17/2007I can't figure out why anyone thinks this is good BBQ. It's a a below average BBQ chain and taste like it. If you like Chain BBQ Colters and Spring Creek do it better. Tony Romas this ain't! If you want real BBQ go to Sonny Bryan's or Baker's Ribs. I would drive past half a dozen Dickey's to get some real BBQ.

Try the chicken breast too. I've taken it to parties and people always want to know "who brought the chicken and where did you get it." Baked potato casserole is a totally guilty pleasure!
