When it was established in 1878, Gruene (pronounced 'Green') Hall was a center of social life for hill country dwellers. These days you'll find that not much has changed for the live entertainment venue that bills itself as "Texas' Oldest Dance Hall." Gruene Hall offers live music seven days a week during the summer and on most nights during the rest of the year. From its whitewashed exterior to its rustic and comfortable interior, this historic watering hole is vintage Americana. Legendary acts having graced the stage at Gruene Hall include Willie Nelson, Robert Earl Keen, Nanci Griffith and numerous others. With the exception of most Friday and Saturday nights, entertainment at the hall is free and refreshingly family friendly. Advance ticketing is available for selected shows. Try a subscription to Gruene Hall's e-mail list to receive the monthly performance schedule.

Gruene is a real treasure
There is no better way to cap off the work week than to take the family and meet friends in Historic Gruene for dinner at the Grist Mill, or one of the other fine eating establishments then go walk through the many little shops that offer everything from high end fly-fishing gear to one of a kind relics to cd's of up and coming Texas Musicians. End the evening at Gruene Hall listening to the most real music being made today - Texas Music! YEEHAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on in and sit a spell!

I remember well going there to hang out with my friends, dance, drink 10 cent longnecks while a student at SWT/Texas State U. George Straight and his Ace in the Hole Band used to play there frequently.

Gruene hall (if i am not mistaken )is the oldest honkeytonk in texas. And when when you walk in you can feel the energy from the past performers.Such living legends as George Stait and Asleep at the wheel to to our fathers of music like Merle Haggerd,Wilie Nelson, and the late great Bob Wills. Not only is this a great place foradults but it's also perfect for kids.Let's put it this way I won't go to Texas without making a stop at the legendary Gruene Hall. And i suggest you do the same.

I could go there one weekend or I could go there every weekend. It is always a pleasure..I"ve met folks from just about all four (4) corners of the earth there at Gruen...I"ve missed the motorcycles in front of the place tho...Interestingly enough I would see people 5 yrs. old to 105 checking out those bikes as well as the autos that were placed there for the amusement of the visitors..Like to see Bret Graham there more often..KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS
