The ever-popular Rainforest Cafe lures kids in with its mechanical monkeys and jungle-themed menu, but Mom and Dad should beware: Once you're in, this rainforest may turn the money in your wallet into an endangered species. Guests who brave the sometimes two-hour wait to dine at the Rainforest Cafe are greeted inside by screeching mechanical monkeys, tropical birds that shriek and cackle, trumpeting elephants and a cascading waterfall. And if your cage isn't sufficiently rattled, your waiter -- dressed completely in safari garb -- will plop a menu the size of a dictionary in your lap. The choices are many, but the Australian- and Asian-themed cuisine may appear a bit too ethnic for younger diners (who may be too preoccupied with the surroundings to eat anyway). Adults will enjoy the creative drink menu, and the desserts are a delight. The service can sometimes get a bit tied up, but that doesn't seem to stop the crowds from returning. -- Amy Kerr

the food is disgustingly gross.....everything we ordered was doing the backstroke in butter.....way way way overpriced....save your $$$ and go to chuck e cheese's...

Jensen3006 - 05/30/2008The food is not good and way over priced. We eat before we go there. We will go on the boat ride and get dessert when done. Not much to do or see while there.
A Family Favorite
KKSEVEN7 - 05/16/2008My family has eaten at several different Rainforest Cafe's, and have had a great time at each. It's a great place to go for a family outing. If your timing is right you can avoid a long wait. While you are waiting they do have a great gift shop! The food is great !!! Everyone should put it on their must do list!!!

meganinman06 - 12/26/2006We just moved to the Houston area and have been to the Rainforest Cafe in Galveston at least a dozen times. The kids LOVE it, and despite the editor's beliefs about the kid menu selection, there are plenty of "normal" kid friendly foods - mac & cheese, pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets (shaped like dinosaurs, I think). The river ride is SO COOL and the volcano is something the children love to see. Considering the amount of food given for almost any entree, the $10-$15/person you'll spend is well worth the money. It's not just a restaurant, it's an experience.

hollywoodjose - 07/11/2006I read a lot of reviews and a lot of them were negative about this restaurant but I noticed that they were all from 2003 and 2004 and the positive ones were recent. I went to it with my gf and I loved it! Great environment, Excellent Service and Good Food! I did not think it was pricey at all compared to some reviews I've read. It was very reasonably priced. GET THE VOLCANO FOR DESSERT!
