Many have said that there are very few places in the world that compare to this club. If it is an out-of-this-world (or at least out-of-this-town) experience that you want, it's time to visit South Beach. Located in the colorful Montrose area, adjacent to JR's and the Montrose Mining Company, the club is literally in the midst of gay club heaven. The decor, music, laser lights and Kryogen Ifex Liquid Ice Jets (that spray out a light cooling mist) are virtually unmatched in the Houston club scene. But it's personality that really sets the place apart. South Beach is all about excuses: one more drink, one more dance, one more time, etc. The clientele is mostly gorgeous gay men, but as long as your attitude is fabulous, your aim is to let loose and you can afford the fluctuating cover, you'll find yourself welcome at South Beach. -- Kristen E.     The over-hyping of this bar can be annoying. It's frequently mentioned as the "hottest bar in town" or "the best in the Southwest" or "world-class". What it is is the main gay dance bar in Houston. It is very nice, but it's a long way from world class.

    First the good: The space is great, the place is clean, and the bartenders are reasonably friendly. The music is probably the latest (I don't keep up), the dance floor is big and modern, and the go-go boys are very attractive if somewhat bored looking.

    Now the not-so-good: If you go for the free admission on Saturday night, expect a very long line. The doormen will be rude. There will be a lot of very young folks - the bar admits 18 year olds. And if you don't look like you're A-gay list, you will be ignored by the staff.

    I;ve been to several cities and many gay dance clubs and none compare to SouthBeach. From the music, crowd and not to mention the sound system and to be backed up with that frezzing a/c fog out.

    I agree with all the other reviews however I would think that the way gay men love to dance there would be a lil hip hop mixed in. Dont get me wrong the music is great, HOWEVER I can only take so much techno...can we please get a lil ass dropping music in the place(that has not been technoized)

    I am a long time fan and patron of South Beach formerly known as Heaven. I was one of the very first gay african american beautiful man to set foot in the club. I have seen the good ole days to the fabulous days of today and I still say "You Go Boys" job well done...

    I have traveled all over this world and certainly the U.S. This club is one of, if not the best club I have ever been to.
