Take a tip from the Prez and eat at Otto's when you want great Texas beef, grilled or smoked to perfection and served in a "no airs" environment. For more than 50 years, Otto's Barbecue & Hamburgers has used only the freshest meats, which they deliver to their restaurants daily and grind themselves to make the best hamburger you'll ever eat. Their special-select barbecue meats are cooked for 16 hours over hickory burning pits, sealing in the tart seasonings that keep customers coming back for more. Plates of beef, ribs, links, ham, pork and turkey cost about $8, and come with two sides of creamy potato salad, coleslaw, beans, corn or Otto's dirty rice. You can buy meats by the pound, whole chickens or turkey. Otto's spuds are whoppers, stuffed with meat. You can have a hot dog, a grilled cheese or ham sandwich, even a club sandwich -- they're all great. But go for the Superburger with homemade fries for about $5, and wash it down with Otto's Special Blend root beer or orange soda. Homemade pies and cakes, draft beer and kid-sized meals are available as well. -- Lyn Foster

  • The good times gone by.

I started eating at Otto's in the 1960's. For a long time it was the greatest. The lines were so long at lunch time, you had to get there early. Of course, Otto has been gone a lone time now. The sauce makes or breaks good BBQ. I make my own sauce at home when I cook. The sauce offered now at Otto's is very poor. Some of the fare offered is the same as in the old days, such as the potato salad, beans and the relish bar. I stop by there occasionally to eat, but am usually saddened. So many of the good eating places of old have gone or changed. The masses do not seem to know good food anymore. That is why the chain restaurants do so well.

The hamburgers are great tasting, but chew carefully. There can be bone shards in the meat, I found one.
The burger was delicious and reasonably price, however, the resulting dentistry was well over a thousand dollars, too much for a mere burger.

This place was once among the best. It has not gotten worse, but so many other good places have replaced Otto's for quality barbeque and burgers. Their burgeras are at best average, and the barbeque is way outclassed by Goode's and Thelma's

Poor BBQ, meat is fatty and hard, baked potatoes are cold and half cooked. Service stinks. Hamburgers are good but are made in different part of resturant. I couldn't getr my dog to eat the ribs i got there, my girlfriends baked potato was raw and cold. It sucks!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ive had better

Well I have not tried this location but the one in Sugarland is BAD. I had the BBQ and it was dry and plain. The sauce tasted like ketchup. I think it was the side dishes that were the worst thing. I also tried the burger. Are you kidding this is not near the best. Whoever wrote the reveiw about the best burger must be related or not from Texas. It was not a good experience.
