Lodged in an old house, this Montrose hideaway features all the creature comforts that make a quiet night out memorable. The menu may not follow today's trends, but the customers who come to this Italian tradition aren't interested in trends. They want solid, wholesome dishes like cannelloni Pavarotti, stuffed with spinach and veal; rigatoni Socerro, with Italian sausage and a creamy pesto sauce; and piccata di pollo, chicken sauted in lemon-butter and wine. Beyond the familiar comfort foods, Michelangelo's offers several creative concoctions, such as the ziti al pesto con pollo with basil pesto, pinenuts, sundried tomatoes and grilled chicken. Also, there's the linguine nuevo with crawfish, tomatoes, peppers, green onions, celery, olive oil and garlic. All of this paints a picture of the good life that Michelangelo himself would envy.

BGSPLSH - 06/26/2008Perhaps the reason this wonderful, romantic, perfect little place did not score so high, is that it is still a place of secret perfection. Let's hope it always stays that way. From the ambience in the piano room, to the attention to detail from every wait staff, and to the food that is never wrong, this place is a treasure. If you are really looking for that truley magical place for that most special evening, this is it! Thank you for so many wonderful memories. I live in Charlotte now and have yet to find anything that compares. We miss you all.

wonderful food

Rivoli, which is no longer in Houston. We will go back again real soon. Wonderful food. Wonderful service.The Top of the Benchmark
wadester2u - 02/12/2004The more Italian places I try in Houston, the more I realize that none of them hold a candle to Michelangelo's. There are bigger, fancier Italian places in town. But Michelangelo's delivers exactly what their menu promises; romantic, classic Italian fare, with excellent service, and attention to every detail. The only place that comes close, is maybe Damians a few blocks away, and Da Marco's down the Montrose strip. But Michelangelo's consistently outperforms and delights me, on every single occasion, without fail.
