In 1977, Jim Goode opened his first restaurant, near downtown. But Goode hit upon a winning combination of authentic Texas barbecue and caring service. That first cafe has grown into four restaurants under the Goode Co. banner. Even though Goode has since added burgers and seafood to his lineup, barbecue remains the company's mainstay. At Goode Co., the barbecue is slow-cooked for 16 hours, making it mouthwatering tender. Then it's topped with a delicious sauce bursting with smoky, tomato flavor. Sausage (from a well-guarded recipe), fresh pies and bread are made daily, including a Goode Co. exclusive: jalapeno cheese bread.
The atmosphere is basic Texana. A cafeteria style serving line snakes through an old barn building jammed with Texas memorabilia, historic photos, and mounted cow heads. There isn't much seating but most folks head out for the patio anyway. And now there's the Goode Co. BBQ Hall of Fame with cooking tools, sauces, marinades and the famous Goode Company's Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie and online ordering. -- Olivia Flores Alvarez

This has to be one of the biggest disappointment in the Cypress , Texas area. Right now I would be glad if they would leave Texas. They are destroying meat by trying to barbecue it. I don't think that they have any idea of what they are doing. I have been to this restaurant three times now and each time they have gotten worse each time. Save your money and taste buds and go somewhere else. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Mediocre at best!
This is the most OVERRATED place in Houston! Yes, the Jalapeno bread is good (it's sad when a BREAD is the best thing you have to offer). The BBQ is mediocre at best. Slather it with sauce to get some taste if you do choose to eat here.
The Jalapeno Cheese Bread Is Simply Scrumptuous!!!
Goode Co. BBQ is one of my fave places to eat when I'm in the city...either by my wonderful church on the SW Freeway or in West Houston. Both are wonderful haunts to sit down and savor the flavor of REAL slow-smoked BBQ! I always get mine on the freshly baked Jalapeno Cheese Bread with a Texas slathering of their wonderful bbq sauce! I'm salivating now just thinking about it! YUMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!
Over rated

I really do not see all the hype about Goode Co. unless people are more impressed with atmosphere than they realize. The food is very often dry and the last time I went there the gentleman that took my order could not understand me and I had to repeat it 4 times that I wanted my bread toated like the buns. If you HAVE to add BBQ sause in order to swallow, perhaps it is just too dry and not so flavorful!!!!
