Beer lovers rejoice. The Ginger Man has up to 70 beers on draft and 100 different bottles to wet your whistle. Ask the knowledgeable staff for advice if that selection seems daunting. They really do know their stuff. Included in this assortment is Houstons own Saint Arnold cask conditioned Amber Ale, which is drawn from a hand pump. The Ginger Man is one of only a few places in Houston to serve it. Enjoy it with one of their appetizers, like the Beer Companion, which are assorted cheeses, crackers and salami, along with seasonal fruit and olives. The bar itself has a large bar but table seating is limited. If the tables are taken, the large courtyard out back has gigantic picnic tables that invite getting to know new beer lovers. i have to agree with Jack carrol...the female bartenders ARE surly and rarely smile. It is like they don't want you there

After going there for several years, I finally gave up. It is way too hard to order a beer. By the time most people would have had their second beer in hand, the bar staff here is still heads down doing paperwork or talking to each other...take my advise go somewhere where they want your business.
Rich's Review

If you like beer this is the place for you. The Ginger Man is Houston's Cheers. In fact it is better. That moron Dianne is no where to be found. In fact, the bar maids really know how to tap a keg. It is also the only place in town to find Young's Double Chocolate on tap.
KT's Review

Excellent selection of beers. One of few places in town to get a cask conditioned St. Arnold's Amber, a very fine amber ale. Negatives: Parents who bring little kids on Sunday afternoons. But the atmosphere is good, most of the time. Another negative: The cozy shack can be a little overcrowded, especially when it's a little hot or cold, which is to say most of the time in Houston. Also, be prepared to walk because there is no parking anywhere around the Gingerman. Hey, I'd walk a mile for a pint of that Amber...
