Nothing to rave about
purplealgae - 01/08/2005Not so good... If this place was voted houston's best, we may as well stop eating Meixcan food. We are new to Houston (only a year here) and still searching for a great mexican restaurant... this is NOT it. The food is bland, greasy, over-priced (and we were over charged). The service was prompt, but I swear they laugh at you if you actually eat the food. By the way, there is a Taco Cabana across the street...

If you have never been here, and are thinking about trying it out, stop! Make a run for the border! That's right, you'd be better off going to Taco Bell. If you like your Mexican food bland, mushy, and flavorless, this is the place for you! If it weren't for the great stuffed jalapeno's, I would have given Felix ZERO stars. I cannot believe this restaurant has been open as long as they have serving that food! It seriously was the worst Mexican food I have had at a restaurant in a LONG time. Oh!...my wife and I each ordered one margarita. They were decent, and we decided to share one more. Asked the waitress for another, and she NEVER brought it, yet billed us for it. That is, after we deciphered her handwritten scribbling...(they write invoices manually there).
But , hey, that's just our opinion. They've been open since 1927, so I'm sure they won't miss us NEVER going back.The Greatest
spotbuds - 10/03/2004I have been going there for years and yes it is a drive from 1960 but is well worth the drive wish they wouldnt of closed this one down by me. The cheese enchiladas, chile con queso, and guacamole is my favorite so I always spend to much but it is always worth it. You will never see somone in the wrong attire in this restraunt because they wont let you in I have seen them turn people away for not having enough clothes on and they means alot to me when I am eating and someone is sitting next to me half undressed, etc.

subpamela1962 - 09/16/2004iam 42 years old and remember dining with my Great-Grandmother, Grandmother, Mother, and now son. Wonderful memories! The food is addictive. Best salsa in town. Have just went to order the salsa and chips to go.

macbeth888 - 01/29/2004Undoubtedly the best Tex-Mex food in Houston. The cheese enchiladas are state of the art and the chili con queso is legendary. This venerable establishment has been around since the 1940's and has perhaps the most loyal clientele of any restaurant in town so you know they must be doing something right. Viva Felix!
