Filled with low-fi art decor and Elvis memorabilia, including a shrine to the King, this Austin-hip, alt-Tex-Mex restaurant attracts a young, lively crowd for dining and drinking. There are colors everywhere and no two lamps are the same throughout Chuy's individually-themed dining rooms. Handmade wooden fish from Mexico adorn the Million Fish room, while hub caps hang from the ceiling of the Hub Cap room. Chuy's is famous for its green chili dishes and introduces new concoctions every September during Green Chili Fest. Feast like a king with the Elvis P. Memorial Combo, which includes three different enchiladas, a crispy taco and chile con queso. Eat two "Big As Yo' Face" Burritos (they are actually bigger than yo' face) and receive the third one free. For a big meal, you need a big beverage, like the Texas Martini, a double-sized margarita made with Cuervo Gold, Cointreau and a jalepeno-stuffed olive. Happy Hour is from 4-7PM and features the complimentary nacho car, a '54 Chevy trunk filled with all the nacho toppings you need. Don't forget a framed picture of your dog, good for a free appetizer. -- Chase Hamblin

Add CommentLong live the King, the Dogs, and Chuy's!
My mother and father started taking me to Chuy's when I was really young, and I've basically grown up on it. The tacos are wonderful, and the beans and rice are better than most restraunts. Best of all, there is also a Chuy's in Austin! Eat at Chuy's the next time you're in Houston!
Awesome-my fave mexican place!

I was turned on to Chuy's a few years ago. I totally LOVE their creamy japaleno sauce! Their chunky salsa is nice and spicy, too. I love getting their custom enchiladas. All their food is awesome. They could stand to expand their parking somehow, since parking is usually a major ordeal. But the food is SO WORTH IT!!!!!!

I have eaten chili rellenos all over the U.S., but CHUY's has the best ones in the world! Chuy's #1 was the first Chuy's I ate at way back in the 80's in Austin. Love it love it!!!!!!!!!!
Keep the "hatch" coming Chuy's!!!my favorite
the best ever but some think its too spicy (i dont.) sit on the patio if its nice outside. great things @ chuy's: tortilla soup, Chuy's specialenchiladas, salsa, happy hour = free queso!
love it
I just moved here and have already found my fav. place to eat.. i love the salsa. the food and the service...
viva chuys !!
I have eaten in Chuys over the past 20 yrs. We first ate at the one on Barton Springs-Austin (yeah-the one the Bush girl was busted at!!). Ours in Houston is just as good. Love the chili relenos-stuffed with cheese and shrimp! Just the right amount of nonsense to make the meal time fun for our family. we used to bribe our kids by taking them to chuys after the museum...infuse culture with good eatz.....try it...you'll like it.
