If there's one thing San Antonio locals will travel for, it's a great burger. That being the case, Bobby J's has created another reason to jump into your car and head to Helotes. Hot and flavorful, their burgers live up to the old-fashioned label. Served on a soft toasted bun with your choice of fresh toppings, these burgers are made to order and they do not disappoint. The decor isn't flashy, but it's comfortable and casual, with plenty of seating. The service is fast and friendly, and the menu is extensive. Bobby J's offers more than 10 burger specials, from the standard cheeseburger, to the BJ's Piggy (cheese and bacon) to the belt-busting Hungry Texan -- a 1-pound burger just about guaranteed to make you skip the fries. And if hamburgers aren't your thing, they also have both chicken and fish specials, as well as a vegetarian burger.

IT WAS THE WORST HAMBURGER THAT I EVER TASTED.
NOT ONLY WAS THE FOOD BAD BUT THE PLACE WAS
    DIRTY AND FULL OF FLIES.

Yep, I did, the 1 lb old-fashioned burger! Planned to eat 1/2 and take the rest home, but got lost in people-watching, and before I knew it, well, you know the rest of the story... Only eat the burgers. In the past the fries were a tad greasy, as in 2 years or so ago. Don't want to destroy the hamburger mystique; and, now stick with the burger! And, I do love it!

My family has tried all the famous burger places in town. I do not see how many of them stay in business. They serve a dry overcooked burger that screams of fast food. Bobby-J's serves an old fashioned sloppy burger. If you are not willing to get dirty, don't come to Helotes. If not, roll up your sleeves and get to Bobby-J's, you will not be sorry!

Great burgers...served very hot with toasted buns and hand-cut fries...country atmosphere...good choice of beer and an outside deck to enjoy the view. Best burgers in town!
