It's almost eerie the way Pei Wei (pronounced Pay Way) Asian Diners keep sprouting up around the Metroplex like Shiitake mushrooms in full bloom. Named after Pei Wei Jeng, the refugee son of a Chinese master chef, the eatery is a quick-service chip-off-the-block of P.F. Chang's China Bistro. Service is designed to be efficient; you order at the counter, take a seat, set out your token and wait a few minutes for your meal to be delivered. For obvious reasons, takeout is also a popular option. Choose from regular or signature Asian dishes in the form of noodle and rice bowls and stir-fries (configurations and prices vary according to the meat selection). For those on a health kick, ample opportunity exists to build a virtuous meal around vegetables, especially the salads. That said, we still prefer pan-fried pork potstickers served up before diving into coconut-milk laden chicken curry, sizzling shrimp pad thai or blazing beef chow fun noodles. Like the old cliche about the unpredictable weather in Texas, if you don't have a Pei Wei Asian Diner in your neighborhood right now, just wait a few minutes, and you might.

  • Consistent Excellence

We love their take-out teriyaki rice bowls. Always fresh with just the right amount of sauce, these things are addictive. The store at Fire Wheel shopping mall in Garland is our regular stop. Here the staff is always knowledgeable, professional and customer friendly.

  • Chineese Chain Food

The Hot & Sour Soup is too thick...and the fried wontons are usually stale. The menu lacks imagnation. The tastes don't resemble anything Asian I've ever eaten. The ambiance reminds me of a Chineese style deli wanna be. Very ordinary experience. Restaurant may be the wrong category for this one.

  • Very Good Food!!

We regularly use the take out service. Food is consistently, good and hot.
We wish they had more mild dishes as some are too hot to even eat.
Our favorite is Brocolli and Beef..Very tasty, and the cream cheese filled crabs are wonderful!

  • Casual version of P. F. Chang

Great casual version of P. F. Changs. Wonderful lettuce wraps. Kung Pao Chicken had great flavor and it was spicey. This is an excellent neighborhood restaurant.

  • Poor Quality

    Review rating : 1out of 5   ghmagic6 - 08/31/2005

About a month ago my friend and I went to eat at PeiWei and got extremely sick about an hour after eating there. We were sick very sick for about five days after eating there, and still have some symptoms that won't go away. Eat at your own risk!!!

  • Limited Appeal

    Review rating : 3out of 5   ntrustpet - 07/07/2005

I have only eaten in the Dallas restaurants but once again I am amazed at the lack of real quality in the chinese/asian food . This is the fast food version, which is good at times, and only passable the rest of the time. Noodles and rice are frequently soggy as are the vegetables. Sauces never seem to live up to their description. It is certainly good for a fast meal, but it doesn't get better than that.
