It's no longer the Drama Room, but the new Wish Ultra Lounge isn't afraid to play the part of super-sleek, beat-blasting, power club. The uber-hip hangout has the same management, but has undergone a complete makeover that has seen the deep purple walls and the hand-painted Marilyn Monroe sculpture replaced with softer white walls; and the sofas are gone in favor of comfy bed seating. What hasn't changed is the lounge-loving clientele and the assortment of house, hip-hop, trance and R&B beats emanating from a state-of-the-art sound system. A lustful young group of lithe cocktail-carriers perambulate the dance floor soaking up the euphoric mixes being laid down by the best DJs Dallas can serve up (including the renowned 12inchpimps). The starry view from the expansive patio over Central Expressway still draws a crowd, and a VIP package is tough for the twentysomething to turn down.

They hype it up as ''upscale,' but really it's a small venue with unmatching marble countertops and tacky lighting. A horrible music selection that can't possibly be danced to. A big SAUSAGEFEST of unattractive men, might I add. The view sucks. Horrendous and extremely pretentious management, but the bartenders are friendly -- the only plus side of this bar. For what you have to pay for cover ($10 both male AND female, many clubs in New York don't even charge for girls) and for the prices of the drinks, it's worth it to go somewhere else nearby.

Okay, if you're planning on spending a few hundred bucks, this place definitely isn't the place to do it. First of all, it's a tiny little room. Too overcrowded. Service sucks. But they want you to spend all of your money? HAH gimmie a break. I like upscale clubs, but I expect something when I pay a lot of money.
If you're going to charge 15 bucks for a drink, it better be a house specialty and something really cool. NOT a fifteen dollar gin and tonic.
Oh and word to the singles out there...it's so small and overcrowded you won't be able to meet and talk to anyone! woo! I love spending that kind of money and not even getting to know new people!
