While most Dallasites are familiar with the old Belmont Hotel marquee that hangs over Ft. Worth Avenue southwest of downtown, many have probably not made their way inside to BarBelmont. Those who have know that as the night falls on the city, the expansive patio offers one of the most stunning views of the Downtown skyline anywhere. Inside, a very laid-back group of local artists, hotel guests and in-the-know loungers sip on dirty martinis. The sleek accoutrements are mid-century Moroccan with low-slung cream colored banquettes dressed with oversized pillows, while reflective, circular cocktail tables set atop a pale red-brick floor. The mellow menu is heavy on the light stuff offering a selection of sandwiches and salads made with the freshest of ingredients. Chef extraordinaire Rachel Ray thought enough of BarBelmont to film a segment there recently for her wildly popular show, 'Rachel Ray's Tasty Travels.'
