  • Great Food and Service

We went to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for our Anniversary. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. Our waiter, Louie, was great and the food outstanding. If you want a melt in your mouth steak, done just right, wonderful sides, a dinner that truly satisfies, and staff that does things right, this is the place to go!!! As far as dress code goes, it doesn't bother me what other people wear. It was the same at the location in Beverly Hills. People came in from shorts and sandals to cocktail dresses, so this is not unique to Austin!!

  • Hey Scotter, You're in Austin

Come on folks, it's Austin. Favorite marketing/sales story around town is a Dell-ionaire walked into a local high end car dealership wearing shorts, T-Shirt and flops. None of the sales people would wait on him. He got ticked and when up the road to the next dealership and bought a $120,000 car, cash on the spot.

You want to be around folks wearing show clothes, move to Dallas or somewhere in NorthEast Texas like New York or Boston. Plenty of stuffed shirts up there.

Now, if you want a great steak and sides to die for, not to mention a whole class wine list, then head for Ruth's Chris. Be ready to part with some cash but try to ignore the folks that seem to think you need to be wearing a suit to buy a good steak.

As for service. .. did you get what you wanted when you wanted it? That's what counts. Will never forget visiting a club in Dallas. . . when the waitron minced up and feigned a french accent, my date asked a question in fluent french. The kid stopped cold and admitted that he didn't speak a word of french and was in fact from Hale Center (look that up on your map).

Keep your eye on the ball and you will get a meal that you will remember, forget the suit and tie and pay attention to the menu, the quality food and the attentive staff.

It's Austin. Get used to it.

    Love ya Ruth's Chris.

Agree with other writer, price high but expect that, the dress code needs to be upgraded for sure, this is not your local bar for Pete's .........Service ok, didn't like when I went to pay they brought the credit card machine out too ,that was so wrong and the waitress needed a littled a little upgrading on her voice too, other wise good experience........

  • Great Food - Service is So So

I have probably been to at least 12 Ruth's Chris..Love them all. I have had so so service in two of them and this is one. The prices are high, but expected..what I didn't expect was people in shorts and sandles. I know this is Austin, but please, get a dress code or have respect for other diners who take the time to at least where slacks, shoes and a nice shirt. The women usually dress for the restaurant, although the last time here, there was one in shorts and sandles, like they just walked off the golf course. Bar service was very good as were the cocktails. This restaurant needs some help with service and some type of a dress code...Please, You have the looks, the price..get some wait staff that seems to care and are professional and turn away those guests in shorts and sandles..it is not appropriate attire
