Priding itself on authentic Chinese and Taiwanese dishes, Pao's has become the place that Asian student associations from the University of Texas and elsewhere tend to go for a good meal or just to meet. Homesick students savor Pao's spicy variants on kung pao beef, wonton soup and smoked tea duck. Try the Three Cup Chicken, an inscrutable mixture of fowl and mushrooms tossed in with seafood and spices. Lunch entrees offer a fine value, including both the soup and appetizer of the day, plus some of that ubiquitous fried white rice.
