If authenticity is your thing, youll probably get along with Mother Egans owners John OBrien and Mick Morris, who designed their popular pub to resemble the drinking spots of their youths in Ireland, the land of darts and Guinness. The refreshments are heavy on the cabbage and corned beef, and quite indistinguishable from the grub youd pick up in a Dublin bar. (Whether thats good or bad is a matter of taste.) The steak sandwiches are well-regarded among area Irish cultural adepts, but just plain old fish and chips coupled with one of 16 fine draft beers makes for a bonny snack, suitable to watching rugby or soccer on the bar television. Of course, youll find all manner of whisky, but not too many women; Mother Egans mostly draws in older, professional men with more job experience than hair. -- Barrett Brown

    • TERRIBLE RESTURANT.....Good Trivia

      Great Trivia.....everything else...TERRIBLE.

I went on a Tuesday for the Pub Quiz. Great Trivia, good host, decent pace (a little slow). Everything else was horrendous! Service was slow (I counted 3 separate occasions where my glass was empty for periods of 10-15minutes). My girlfriend ordered water, and was told to go get it herself. The food was blan and cold.

I wouldn't recommend Egans...benefits do NOT outweigh the upside.

Mother Egan's is a great place for good food, fun, and a wide assortment of brews. Try the Shpeherd's pie for lunch, and wash it down w one of the outstanding microbrews offered. Team trive is great fun on Tuesday nites!

I think that I must have had the worst waitress in town. I hardly ever leave the office for lunch but I did this day. I didn't know that it would take an hour to get a turkey sandwich. I was dying of thirst after I sucked every bit of moisture out of my water glass because she never brought my tea. Perhaps she was too busy counting all the empty tables.
