Flemings is pretty sophisticated for a steakhouse. The interior is oh-so-contemporary, and the wine list covers some 100 varieties available by the glass, a selection far superior to that of a steak joint on the highway with a giant neon bull out front. But its still the real deal: Flemings and its food have won praise from fans of fine beef throughout Austin. Rib- eye, prime New York strip, T-bones and other varieties are moderately priced and done right. Take a look at the seafood before you decide. The crab cakes and salmon bruschetta are nice, but the Wicked Cajun BBQ Shrimp are much more memorable, particularly if your tongue cant take spicy food. Among side dishes, the potatoes stand out, and the tomato mozzarella cheese salad makes a fine addition to any choice cut. For dessert, go with the Cinnamon Apple Haystack, a mound of vanilla ice cream, caramel, cinnamon and apples. - - Barrett Brown

The staff at Flemings have a great attitude and the Steaks (try the filet or Ribeye) are the very best! Believe it or not they have great Fish and Chicken too!
    Can't wait to go back!!

I go to lotsa restaurants because pharmaceutical companies take me gratis. Flemings has a 1700 degree oven, so they are the only restaurant in town that can really sear your steak to make a crispy crust and still leave the interior rare or medium rare. The desserts are only mediocre, however--the table bread is good but not great--and the sides and good, but, again, not great. I promise your ribeye will beat the best steak you've ever had anywhere else!!

  • The worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant

    Review rating : 0out of 5   rtstad - 02/22/2005

The Fleming's Management and service is the most awful experience I've ever had. Although we had made reservations and arrived early, the management had given away our table. We had to wait 45 minutes without an explanation or an apology. When they finally came to talk with us, they were very smug and rude. The half heartedly tried to appease us and made no real attempt to compensate for the event. Worst of all, they never even made another table ready. I strongly recommend anyone from eating here. This is Austin, not some jerk town where managers don't care about customers.
