Dan's is a good ol' burger joint -- you know, order at the counter, burgers wrapped in thin paper, plastic trays, great malts. Don't expect anything fancy. But you can expect good burgers, fries, onion rings and malts. Fish and chicken sandwiches, chicken strips and chicken-fried steak round out the menu. Everything is fresh and made to order. For a big appetite, try the double meat, double cheese with bacon and jalapenos. You will know you're in Texas. For a stick-to-your-ribs breakfast, Dan's can't be beat. It serves eggs, sausage, bacon, ham and omelets with sides such as biscuits, grits, hash browns, sliced tomato and Texas toast. Do not miss the biscuits and gravy. Clearly, this isn't a restaurant for the 'light' eater. But it's great for everyone else. -- Lynett Oliver

I frequent the Dan's on Manchaca ("Man-Chack" to the local Bubbas) and although their burger selections are really great, I often order a burger patty with my breakfast because (a) It's probably better for me, and (b) it's not on the menu, which makes me feel special... LOL! Note: please don't go to Dan's if you think McDonalds serves actual food. In fact, do us all a big favor, don't eat anywhere else if you like McDonalds.!

MAKEMP01 - 06/14/2008Even though I haven't had a Dan's Burger in several years, whenever anyone new to town ask where to get a good burger, I always reccommend Dan's. Their burgers are awesome with toasted buns and loaded with flavor. People don't talk while eating this burger.....you're enjoying the burger too much.
I'll have to make a trip across town soon to experience them again.

swishahouse2005 - 02/15/2007I can't imagine starting my day without breakfast from Dan's Hamburger on N. Lamar. I am new to this city and a co-worker took me to this place and I have hooked every since. I didn't think that I would find place like this in Austin, but I am glad I did.
The place may be small but it is very clean and the people are friendly. The job that I have send me out of town from time to time and while I am gone I really miss my daily breakfast with them, however as soon as that plane lands in Austin I just can't wait for the next morning so that I can get my specialized made for a Queen breakfast, made the way I like it. By the way they have excellent service.

calmedexperts1 - 01/30/2007Small, Medium or Large Hamburgers, never before have I seen that way of ordering, but there is nothing posted to tell you the difference. I had a Medium Dbl Cheese w/ bacon..it was plenty big. The French fries were good, the burger was good, the ambience..although it is an old hamburger joint..it left me feeling like it was dirty and not wanting to stay for long, too bad. Spend some $$'s on the inside and although they were quite busy for a Sunday at 3PM, I think they could be busier. Like my wife commented..Lunch is OK, would never come there for a burger at dinner time. I was happy with my burger, my wife could take it or leave it, we have had better in this town, but if in the area, I would stop by again.
