BD Rileys has come along at a time when Austin seems to be undergoing an Irish Pub resurgence. Thats ok, because BDs is now the only authentic Irish pub on the Sixth Street strip where bar competition is fierce, and people are availed every opportunity to go to any type of bar they want. A warm, inviting pub atmosphere that almost makes you forget the noise and craziness of Sixth Street, BD Rileys is a great place to grab a pint, watch a game, and hang out with your friends. Of course, they often have entertainment there as well, and its usually quite good. Get there early, though, because BD Rileys is the kind of place where people go and stay for the rest of the evening, and if you dont get a seat, youre probably stuck standing all night long. -- Mike DAlonzo

Disappointed
....Hate to be the voice of dissent, but, I found the food to be boring, not "traditional" by any definition. My Irish Grandmother's food was traditional, it was very, very good. The Beer was good, yet over priced. The Band was so loud that I had to point at my menu choices because the waitress couldnât hear me. A true Pub is a bit more than a just a beer hall; C'mon step it up a notch (or 3)

I've been drinking here since the pub opened back in 2000, and I love it. The food is delicious and varied, the beer fresh and poured properly, and the crowd different than what you might expect on 6th Street. It's a bit pricier than most of the "student bars" or "shot joints" and draws fewer freshmen & a more diverse crowd accordingly.
Try the Fish & Chips, or the Cajun Pasta, or perhaps Irish Stew with a Guinness. There is live music 7 nights a week, and there is never a cover charge. It also features lots of High-Definition plasma TVs and all the sports you might care to watch. It's nice to have a local Irish pub to call home that's not a chain and run by a Texan.R&R in Riley's
When my husband and son were home for r&r from Iraq we went here twice while in Austin. The atmosphere is great and the service is very good! We will always have wonderfull memories of this time together.
