As the second incarnation of Charlies Attic, formerly one of Austins most notorious dive bars, Barflys has some big shoes to fill. Luckily, it also has some big feet this is one of the best places in the city to find cheap drinks and unrestrained geniality. Barflys draws in an extremely diverse clientele made up of hard drinkers both blue collar and bourgeois and united only by the fact that they all live within a few blocks of the bar. Here, the guy who changes your oil and the earnest grad student winding down from his studies may be seen together playing a gleeful match of darts, pool, or foosball as their respective comrades observe the proceedings from their barstools. All of this is likely to occur without a visible trace of class conflict, at least until it comes time to fight over the jukebox; even a place like Barflys cant resolve the Elvis/Beatles dichotomy. -- Barrett Brown
