A well-trod steakhouse notable for its semi-colonial decor and amply portioned appetizers. Most prominent among these starters are stuffed grilled green chili strips -- sporting goat cheese, fresh garlic and red chile flakes -- and the battered mushrooms spiked with Shiner Bock and chipotle sauce. The main attraction here is the various modes of steak, to be sure, but diners may also be tempted by a range of seafood dishes from lobster tails to clam chowder, flavored with sweet potatoes. Save a few cubic inches of tummy real estate for the double chocolate muffin topped with ice cream. I have been to several top rated steak houses in Las Vegas, Kansas City, and across Texas, but it doesn't get much better than what I had in Austin, excellant steak, great service and good atmosphere.
Texas has the best.steaks are top notch

Great Food. Too relaxed
calmedexperts1 - 02/08/2007Was recommended by Old Austinittes, that this was the Best Steak in Austin. Well, it was good, not great. Overall we had a nice dining experience (food). The wait staff was nice, but didn't really seem like they wanted to be at work. When we asked for a "HOT" Decaf Cappaccino after dinner, they brought it warm and when asked to make it hot, they had 4 people trying to figure out the machine, never did get it hot. I guess this is an "Austin" restaurant, very casual inside, prices were OK, drinks were OK..Will probably return if asked by friends, otherwise, I have found better with comparable prices.
