Message from Al's Hamburgers

We are a family owned and operated full service restaurant first started by Al Mathews back in 1957. We try to hire friendly waitresses and cooks to promote a homey atmosphere. Our kitchen is open and Bar Seating is at a premium for the view of the "Organized Chaos" that goes on during a rush. Many customers feel so much at home that we see their faces everyday, and in fact have one gentleman who calls in sick if he isn't going to show (no lie). We are on a first name basis with many and know the faces and orders of many, many more. We would love to have you come by and give us the chance to get to know you!Visit Citysearch.com

  • Full Bar with Beer & Wine.
  • Breakfast & Specialty Coffee.
  • Take Out & Catering Available.
Editorial Review

Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, "Love at First Bite!" is the slogan, and after serving loyal customers since 1957, the mandate.

In Short
Al's Hamburgers is still family-owned and family friendly, the kind of place where everybody really does know your name. The food is what gives Al's its long standing reputation. And it isn't just burgers: Get there early and Al's will whip breakfast into shape with omelets, pancakes, sausages and toast. After 10:30, Al's starts up the lunch menu. Besides luscious burgers, diners can nibble on salads, quesadillas and a mean, stubbornly beanless chili.

Know Before You Go
Doing low carb? Al's got you covered. Make that smothered: Southern Smothered Chicken with chedder, a HUGE chef salad, and, of course, a decadent cheeseburger without the bun.

Save Money
All sorts of meringue pies slices can be had for $1.65 a slice--very 1957.

WHY isn't The Twisted Root, on Commerce Street in downtown Dallas a contender in this Review??? Everything is homemade......ice cream, root beer, even the ketchup! It is fabulous......THE BEST BURGERS and fresh cut French fries!! Check out their website! People drive from all-over to go there!

Although situated in a second generation Yuppie suburban enclave, Al's is still far and away the best Burger Joint in North Arlington. Surrounded by plastic and formica fast food clones, it survives as the one true, honest burger within 10 miles of Lincoln Square. No downer beef here! And with bar service it provides one of the last good beer and burger meals in the Metro area.

  • 1 of the best burgers ever

    Review rating : 5out of 5   Nolan0340 - 05/17/2008

although it has lost a bit of the tradtion over the years since its move from the ole' drive-in days, it still has maintained the quality food that they are know for. the burgers are not as greasy as the old days due to the "healthy" was of living and eating now days its a great place to still dine. 1 nice thing since the move is the bar they now have. a great place to go for lunch or after work. just wish they were open on sundays for the ball games, especially with the new cowboy stadium coming to arlington.

  • My View

    Review rating : 3out of 5   Aceg1402 - 05/16/2008

Actually I have never been to this place but I rated it good just because no restaurant is perfect. You might get a disease from just about anywhere. If there would have been a Veggie Burger Option I would have rated that BEST for health, the Earth, TASTE, the Animals and, last but not least, for the starving people of the world.

My burgers were meager, it looked like it was just slapped on the grill from a frozen package. Fries were cold and greasy. Go to Burger King instead!
