Sperry's Restaurant opened its doors in May of 1974 and is now enjoying its 32nd year of service to its many local and out of town customers. Burton W. Sperry, the great-great-grandfather of the owners, was engaged in the hotel and restaurant business in Jacksonville, Florida, from the late 1800's into the 1900's. His reputation for fine food and service was widespread. The owners and management of Sperry's strive to maintain his example for your dining pleasure. Sperry's has brought to Nashville a unique dining concept of tasteful surroundings combined with a high staff-to-seating ratio, and quality food offered at reasonable prices. Our kitchens contain only the finest products available, including aged Western beef, the finest fresh seafood obtainable and premium dairy products, cheeses, oils and spices. Many of our desserts are made here as you would make your own. Our entire menu is composed of ingredients you would be proud to serve.

  • Way Overrated

    Review rating : 2out of 5   Harbison5 - 07/25/2008

Loud restaurant ... nothing relaxing about it. We were seated with a wine rack/cupboard behind me and I kept moving for server's to gain access to it. The food was not great ... steak was very average and the salad bar was limp.

  • Special occasions and divine dinners at Sperry's!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   strohrock65 - 06/16/2008

When we moved to Nashville in 1990, Sperry's was one of the first places we discovered. It reminded us of a restaurant back home in Indiana and the food was divine! 18 years later, we're still coming back... for birthdays and anniversaries and date nights, you name it. With or without the kids, it's always delicious and a great place to go. The staff make us feel welcome, the food is prepared to perfection, and you never know who you'll see! For a real taste of Nashville, come any time... not just for special occasions... Sperry's is a real treat!

  • Love Love Love Sperry's

The bleu cheese stuffed filet will melt in your mouth!! I always must have the steamed artichoke with their own special dipping sauce and the salad bar is superb, where else can you get Green Goddess? You will be greeted by name when you walk in the door and if they don't know you you will feel like family when you leave! The atmoshere is so cozy and such a fine place to people watch, I mean Prince William is quite a person to watch!! The only place for a truly delicious steak and great service in town!

  • In a strip mall?

    Review rating : 3out of 5   Twrex66 - 06/10/2008

Food is alright but the price demands a stand alone building or in a center of equal trades, not a strip mall. Wonder if a shoe store will be next door. . .

  • Sperry's isn't very good.

    Review rating : 1out of 5   Twinkiefarmer2 - 05/29/2008

I had an excellent grilled Halibut there once, about 10 yrs ago. I asked for it to be grilled. Wasn't presented that way on the menu. Ordered Bananas Foster for desert, but they didn't have any ice cream..
The menu is all a la carte..which means $$$$$$$$$$ and very small portions.
I stopped going because they burn the cheese on top of the Onion soup Crock..steak is NEVER done the way one asks and , again, $$$$$$$$$$
Try the Ale Steak at Calhouns- with the Worshestershire butter! It blows Sperry's away! and not too much $$$$$$$$

  • Old Sperrys, New Sperrys

    Review rating : 1out of 5   magnum222 - 04/12/2007

I have been going to Sperrys since the late 70's and it was a great place to eat then. The Maitre-D was always friendly and would always stop by the table for some yachting talk. He was interested in his customers and how the food and service was. Too bad all that has changed, food is not good now, service is terrible for the money you spend.

  • Nothing else compares!

    Review rating : 5out of 5   ppt13 - 12/19/2006

We have eaten at restaurants around the country and we always find ourselves comparing them to Sperry's and they never stack up! We have gone there for 25 - 30 years and the food and service are always great! It has such a warmth, especially the table in front of the fireplace in the bar! The food is always great! The steaks are the best I have ever had. The seafood is also amazing! The portions are just right. You don't feel like you are paying for food that you could not possibly eat, but you won't leave hungry. The new one in Franklin is just as good and the attention to detail is unbelievable! Sperry's is truely a rare gem!

  • Mouth Watering Steak

    Review rating : 5out of 5   jmatttn - 12/09/2004

No trip to Nashville would be complete without visiting Sperry's Resaurant. Distinctly Southern at it's roots (a true Nashville Hangout -- a place to see and be scene), it features mouth watering steak with blue cheese sauce and a side of savory marinated mushrooms. Additional hits are the seafood choices, always fresh and tasty. Truly, with the ample portion sizes it is one of the best deals in town.

  • Fantastic steaks and seafood

    Review rating : 5out of 5   almt2 - 11/06/2003

Classic elegance steeped in rich history, Sperry's specializes in fantastic steaks and seafood in a warm English-pub atmosphere. The salad bar is fresh and the service is friendly. Portions are just right and the bananas foster is a must. Try the Cafe' Sperry's for a "whopper" of an after dinner drink. The perfect place for our anniversary.
